It's a tropical island. Surrounded by tropical Islands. The circuit forms part of a nature park, and borders the river and an estuary.

With the new straight, there was the possibility of putting a 4th DRS zone there, it meant cars could close up just before the Start-Finish straight.

But that meant a change of the regulations, which requires a unanimous vote. As usual, the teams were not in agreement, although the drivers obviously wanted it.
