I haven't been avoiding you guys just waiting for ESKOM and the broadcasters to agree on a schedule due to the delayed time table. :sneaky:

But Wow, what a race, well worth the wait and frustration, but to go down to a 30 min meeting of the Race committee to decide the result reminded me of my years as a race officer for yacht racing.

The Result was a good and fair call and I was happy to see Alonso granted the well earned podium. the time was well spent and the track changes work well. Still not to sure about the 4 DRS zones but I guess it is the Australin way of eliminating the dependence DRS :).

Red flag for gravel on track. Then traffic congestion on the formation lap causing people to run off the track, leaving GRAVEL ON THE TRACK, but no red flag.

Then, instead of just stopping the race 2 laps short, which most of the drivers would have accepted, they forced the issue and tried to turn it into an Abu Dhabi spectacle. Lewis and Max in a 2 lap drag race with the whole field on new soft tyres. I mean what could possibly go wrong??

Then, when they had to face the reality of their poor decision making after causing millions in damage and negating the prior 1h30 of strategic racing, they panic and change the order back to how it was, undoing their entire lap of curated carnage, except of course Sainz's penalty for reasons I cannot even speculate. This despite the intense pressure the race directors had deliberately put all the drivers under, knowing full well that the propensity for driver error and accidents was greatly heightened. I guess they need to project some of the blame onto at least one driver to feel better about themselves.

Then, to somehow save face, we duct tape all the cars to make them pretty again, put them all in a stupid convoy, and do one final lap behind the safety car just to further damage the environment they are so wokefully hell-bent on saving. This waste of time just so that they can please their sponsors who paid for the photo opportunity. I'm surprised they didn't just park all the cars in a line on the start finish straight and take the knee next to their cars with little pride / GBV flags hanging out of the engine intakes.

You forgot to mention that it was brilliant script writing by the on set "Drive to Survive" director and to pull it off in only 30 min. ;)

So Massi was at the paddock the weekend we see the biggest shambles in race directorship since 2001 Abu Dhabi.
Coincidence?
I think not!

He was probably consulting to the "Drive to Survive" Director and script writer.
