Lewis complaining about one team dominating the sport for multiple years and wants rules to change that.

Funny he never said anything when Merc were so dominant for almost a decade…
Were you listening to the F1TV guys having a good chuckle about it?

I didn't see that one. I saw him calling for a limit to be put on when teams can start developing the next year's car.

It's ironic coming from him.

But you forget that Lewis was dominant because of his driving, Max is only dominant because of his car ;)
/ducks and grabs flame Retardant suit

I assume there were a lot last minute runs on soft tyres? Seeing Fernando down in 8th, nearly a second off the pace and behind both his team mate and a HAAS doesn't look right.

There actually weren't many. I wouldn't read too much into the times as, this being the only practice, different teams were running on different fuel loads and tyre strategies.

Yea don't read much into it. Lewis was fastest for a while, on hards, with Max second on mediums. It's practice, the times mean nothing. We'll only know by Q1 what the real performance is, with only F2 coming close to painting a picture.

That is bizarre coz Fernando is always brilliant in free practices

Oh McLaren, McLaren, where far art thou McLaren?
oh, 12th & 20th
 :crying:

Oh well, as their tweet said - collecting data/data analyzing... lets see them finish the qualy 19th & 20th *sigh*cry*sigh*
Breathe man... it's FP1, times mean nothing. Didn't you see all the flow-vis paint? They're testing.

Yeah that’s where I heard it. Refreshing tbh - I know sky presenters would have been agreeing with Lewis and forgetting Mercs dominance
Actually Sky were the first to point that out. Both Crofty and De Resta mentioned it when Rachel Brooks conducted the quoted interview.

Glad to see Ferrari 2nd and 3rd

Back on topic, any predictions for this weekend?

I hope my team improves even more, yes I'm a McLaren fan since mid 80's and I'm sticking with them :D

Merc upping their game? Fernando on another podium?
Merc seem to want to catch RBR. They've forgotten they need to get past AMR first. While I admire their attempt to rise to the top again, they have an ex-customer team to navigate first.
It's all good and well they're in front of AMR, but only Alonso is really scoring for them so that's skewed. If Stroll was worth his salt it would be a different story.
