Something doesn't make sense about the penalties. From the stewards explanation.

Four infringements receive a five second time penalty, while five infringements receive a 10 second time penalty. The stewards explained: "Then a 'reset' has been allowed due to excessive number of infringements. The counting of infringements restarts. After another four infringements, a five second time penalty will apply; after five, a 10 second penalty.

The way this reads then is in order to receive a 10s penalty you need to receive a 5s penalty. There is no mention of a reset after x laps / time.

This would explian Ocon's penatlies but does not make sense for everyone else.

To be fair, Max's last lap when he did the fastest lap, especially turn 10, looked outside to me when I was watching it.

He corrected his behaviour. I recall a radio message along the lines of "you absolutely, absolutely must do everything you can to keep within the limit"...

The problem with gravel is that it is very expensive to maintain, will lead to more red flags during a race to clean the track and the other 51 weeks where the track is used by not only cars but bikes. There the gravel will be a big issue. F1 drivers should be able to keep it between the lines, they all agreed this was the way forward (Quoting from a youtube vibeo).

Yes I heard that as well. Saw him off track after that call. The stewards were making very harsh calls. I believe it was Sainz where the commentators even said it was a bit of a harsh call.

Look I have no issue with rules, but we know the stewards are not really known for fairly applying them.

There was also a general sentiment that there isn't sufficient "warning" on the barriers for the drivers to know where the limit is.

To be fair, Max's last lap when he did the fastest lap, especially turn 10, looked outside to me when I was watching it.

From the onboard (I watched it several times last night), his fastest lap looked fine through Turns 9 and 10. However, he got slightly too close to the sausage kerb at Turn 1 and that looked very close to being over the white line to my eyes...

Yes, just watched it again - I think he was over at Turn 1 (you can see the white line by his RHS mirror). Perfectly safe at all other corners...

The greatest driver of all time ever got black and white flags and that didn't stop him from exceeding anymore track limits, so no.

This whole track limits thing has me thinking - do they use a sensor or visual confirmation of the track limits? I ask because in MotoGP they use sensors and the rider + team + viewers immediately know that there was an infringement - not 15 laps later like Albon mentioned.
