"The FIA had set an internal deadline of June 30th to evaluate submitted applications from new teams who aim to be on the grid in 2025-2027. A source tells me two applications have been given the green light to continue their application process.

No word on who the two bids come from, but an educated guess would be that one of them is Andretti.

Now, before you get too excited: They haven't been given a spot on the grid. They've simply been told that they haven't been ruled out."

He still forgets he was winning 7 WDC and never thought about the other teams feelings when doing so...

Now that he's just an average driver, it's unfair. Laughable. This is how things go. Ask Williams, Ferrari and Renault about their runs in the past.
 
Damian Lewis, star of Homeland and Band of Brothers is to sing the national anthem ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix.

Curiously, the press release announcing the news refers to Lewis as a "singer-songwriter" though most know of him as an actor, who has starred in countless movies and TV series such as Band of Brothers, Homeland and Billions.

Of course, by a strange coincidence this weekend's Grand Prix sees filming of the Brad Pitt F1 movie get underway, with the production very much involved in the actual race weekend.

Amidst talk of cars from the movie taking part in the formation lap, sharp-eyed fans have noted garages at the circuit marked out for Pitt's character Sonny Hayes and that of his teammate, Joshua Pearce who will be played by the British-Nigerian actor Damson Idris.


With this is mind, would we be wide of the mark in assuming that Lewis isn't only performing the anthem at the weekend but in fact has a role in the movie, possibly as a team boss who has dreams of being a rock star... EJ anyone?
 
Two Just Stop Oil protested disrupted a tennis match at Wimbledon today. I wouldn't put it past them to try something at Silverstone this weekend...
 
2024 Race Calendar!

Formula 1 has announced the calendar for the 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship, approved by the World Motor Sport Council. The calendar features 24 races and begins in Bahrain on March 2 and finishes in Abu Dhabi on December 8.

How can it be a strange coincidence when this was announced a few races ago already and there was talk of filming taking place with a modified F2 car?

I think they are alluding to the fact that Lewis is an Actor, the punchline being that Eddie Jordan wanted to be a musician, hence is he there for Filming ?
 
If he wears their shirts or not is Irrelevant, MB are not looking for, or in need of, Brand exposure.

They are more concerned with the Brand Association, especially in the American Market, of Lewis Hamilton and Merladies Benz. Hamilton's Private Car is a top of the line AMG, probably an EQ.

Could you imagine the brand damage if he arrived in Las Verges Driving a Ferrari an Aston Martin or, heaven forbid, a Teasla.

That one stunt alone would cost MB a lot more than he is asking to be loyal to the brand for ten years.

Williams reveals special Silverstone livery

Williams has unveiled an adapted livery for the British Grand Prix, designed with a British twist, while also acknowledging its past, as part of the celebrations to mark its 800th Grand Prix.

The British Grand Prix was set to be the Grove-based team's eighth centennial but, with the cancellation of Imola last month, that landmark shifts to the following race in Budapest.

Williams is therefore celebrating over both weekends, to ensure its home fans in the UK can be part of the commemoration.

The one-off Silverstone design, running on both FW45's of Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant this weekend, pays homage to the team's British heritage and to its beloved founder, the late Sir Frank Williams.
