Can I just say that there should be a special mention of the F1 Junior Commentary Team. They crossed over to them during P2 with 25 mins or so to go on the international feed on F1TV or SkyF1. Unbelievably good commentary for kids - better than the adults on many commentary feeds. Crofty finally has some competition :) The kid giving Ted a run for his money on the pit lane commentary was a laugh.

She was a precocious little thing, cute in a stranger but I would hate to have her as a daughter:cautious:
But they probably put her up to it to give Ted a hard time :D

Must say the kids commentary was a breath of fresh air. I'd watch the race on Sunday with them as commentary if it were available on F1tv.

Great F2 Sprint race, last few laps were very close.
Some good and tactical drivers with a shot at F1 amongst that bunch.

Except for the classic F1 problem of no new seats….last years champ is a reserve

I didn't realise they were restricting Quail tiers too.
This is ridiculous.

Some one needs to explain to Liberty media that this is an engineering sport, the engineers and drivers need time and information to set up the cars.
If you want to improve the racing let the teams do their jobs without artificial restraints.
If you want a hit TV show then create one from scratch.
But stop trying to dismantle and rebuild a formula that has worked well for longer than most of the Liberty Media staff have been alive.

To be fair, the alternate tyre allocation is about sustainability stuff, not entertainment.

Carbon Neutral 2030 blah blah aside, bottom line is:

Entertainment for fans > Saving a minute amount of world annual CO2

This new tyre reduction has really massively reduced the Practice session action due to them "saving tyres".

By all means restrict the number of tires, but don't dictate when and where they can be used...
Problem is if you restrict the tyres with no prescription for quali the slow cars will all use softs in q1, forcing the middle and then faster cars to do the same in turn. That'll leave used tyres at best for Q3 which will be even worse for racing than we have now.

Within quali they could have one set of each without saying:
Q3 = Hard
Q2 = Medium
Q1 = soft.

What if a team wanted to risk a soft in Q2 to get into the top 10 ?
Removing choice and risk is diluting the sport, not enhancing it.

It will be 20 Identical cars and F2 style reverse grid sprint in a few years.
But by then I will probably have already given up watching.
