As someone lit the fire I will just drop this here:

On lap 56, the FIA highlighted a conversation between Masi, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, and Red Bull sporting director Jonathan Wheatley that took place when the message came through that lapped cars would not be allowed to overtake (the correct rule).

The conversation took place as follows:

Horner: Christian to Michael.

Masi: Yes, go ahead Christian.

Horner: Why aren't we getting these lapped cars out of the way?

Masi: Just give me... because Christian... just give me a second... OK, my main, big one is to get this incident clear.

Horner: You only need one racing lap.

Masi: Yeah.

Wheatley: Obviously, those lapped cars, you don't need to let them go... right away round and catch up with the back of the pack.

Masi: Understood.

Wheatley: You need to let them go....

Masi: Understood. Just give us a second.

Wheatley: …and then we've got a motor race on our hands.

Masi: Understood.

On the following lap, when five lapped drivers were told they could overtake, so clearing the cars between Verstappen and Hamilton, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff then radioed Masi.

Wolff: Michael…Michael, this isn't right. Michael, that is so not right. That is so not right.

Then immediately as the safety car returned to the pits, there was another message.

Wolff: He [VER] just overtook under safety car.

So he benefited from a bad call, prompted by his team, but went one further and used the confusion to commit an illegal overtake.

All is fair in Love and War but please stop claiming that He and RBR were innocent parties,
Flame retardant suit on and ignore key primed...............
That horse has been dead for 2 years, but still getinng flogged.

Can't mods remove the Ham vs Verstappen E-peen morons from this thread? Take your butthurt feefees somewhere else.

As a Merc fan and Lewis supporter, can we all just agree that 2021 happened and whatever you opinion, nothing is going to change the result so we can now just move on?

We have a pretty good season of racing this year, let's focus on that.

Anyone feel like Lawson is making a pretty strong case for the AT seat? DR didn't really impress on his return and Lawson is doing a pretty damn good job.

He was barely shown on Sundays race. In fact, the whole back of the field didn't get much air time at all.

That's what I'm saying. I like DR but I don't really get why he's back aside from fan interest. He hasn't been great for a long time.

I don't mind him being back, but he'll really have to pull his sock up.
Rightfully so though, The SaiLecHam stuff was good to watch.

Yeah, the front of the field were on fire, purely thanks to the Ferrari's.

Dude only started watching F1 this year, and believes all the hype he reads about a single accident. He hasn't got to watching 2022's season much less 2021 or anything before that.
Anyone using the Crashstappen/FRAUDmilton nonsense is not a true fan and just trying to troll. Admittedly quite badly, but there you go. Nothing like throwing a thread off balance.

I reckon DR to return and Lawson to replace Yuki at some stage (Is Yuki locked in for next year?)

I might be wrong, but I was always under the impression that Yuki was there for a large chunk of Honda payback for the engines. Now with RBPT forging ahead and Honda signing with Aston Martin for 2026, if Lawson continues to outperform Yuki, he may steal that seat.
