Most of them do it, saw Max doing the same earlier. Can't really see how else they'll create some room for themselves on track.
Then why not delay the release from the garage. The issue is 1, other drivers do not expect it (and it can cause confusion) and 2, it is impeding if there are cars behind. The case with Max in Singapore is an example of both of these points.

That is the point of it.
If you sit in the Garage you can't be sure the track is clear.
If you block the Pit Exit you ensure that the track is clear.
 
Yeah, considering that the car seems to be mid field it just shows how good the two drivers are.
Agreed, imagine if GR had a more reliable car, those 2 DNF's due car failure surely hurt him and the constructors points so far.
 
F1 occupies a niche market, though. It does not compete against anything else.

The only other regular, global motorsport series it may split viewers with is MotoGP and even then, if they are run on the same weekend, they will offset their starts so as to not clash. In the past FIM would swap the Moto2 and MotoGP start times, moving MotoGP earlier to make sure the big boys do not clash with F1 because they know they would lose a head-to-head clash over viewership.
I'm not really talking about scheduling conflicts for racing events. More rugby, more football, more cricket, more fights, more tennis (boxing/ufc/wrestling), more athletics, more swimming, I can go on and on. People only have so much time in a week.

Q1 should be as is.
Q2 should be as is.
Q3 should be:

  • 1 driver on track at a time (ie. sequentially).
  • The order on track determined by cumulative laps in Q1 and Q2 in descending order.
  • You get a single warm up lap plus the number of laps matching your previous race position to a maximum of 5 laps in total.

So if you finished first in the previous race you get 1 warm up and 1 flying lap. If you finished 10th in the previous race you would get 1 warm and 5 other laps.

If anything its merging the current format with the old format. Best and most consistent drivers will always rise to the top.

Track evolution would mean this doesn't fly. All the lower guys will be doing is laying down rubber for the fast guys to capitalise on

A statement from the FIA on Saturday in Qatar alerted the world to what is the biggest tyre-related drama to hit Formula 1 since the infamous 2005 US Grand Prix.


Formula 1 is to hold an extra practice session ahead of the sprint action at the Qatar Grand Prix, and could mandate a three-stop race, following concerns about tyre failures.


This time the issue discovered by Pirelli late on Saturday evening affects the whole field, and the FIA was quick to respond with a contingency plan ahead of today's sprint shootout and the sprint race itself.
 
That drooling retard Stroll is out again, with his team mate in.
