multimillion dollar cars, but they don't come standard with climate control?

Wasn't there talk a year or so about introducing a prescribed minimum pitstop time on safety grounds? Was that ever implemented or are teams just working around it now and doing pitstops as quick as they were, pre-regulation?
 
Gone are the days when drivers and teams raced and pushed to the very edge at the risk of their tires failing before pitting.

Yip... guess the saying "pitting before the tires fall off the cliff" literally fell off the cliff as its hardly said anymore

If they did this they might as well add speed limits and mandatory rest periods.

I think when they increased the rim size, it naturally slowed down the stops. But it seems they've overcome that.

Also don't see how they're in any position to make statements about improving safety when they ok'ed racing in Qatar at this time of the year...

I really don't get why it simply can't be that the Pirelli provide the specs and warnings as guidance and leave it to drivers and teams to manage based on their own testing, data and feedback. If you can stay off the curbs and get a few more laps that's skill/risk/reward.

I can't imagine how difficult the muscle memory must've been to overcome with the most experienced crew members. Probably some change in muscle group usage etc too.

The new version takes away some of the minimum time requirements specified for different aspects of the stop sequence in the original TD, and which were based on human reaction times.

However, some time elements remain, and the FIA's goal is still to prevent teams from using automatic signalling in order to speed up their stops.


Teams have to demonstrate that the mechanic on each wheel gun manually presses a button that signals that the wheel is safely on, and also that the button cannot be held down.

Seems then that there are regs in place to slow the stops down but, predictably in F1, teams have just learnt to work around them and improve themselves.
 
And that 500ml gets hot in minutes...

Car/Helmet+Suit AC might become a thing with all these GP's in hot AF places.
Or the pit stops become longer as they change water for the drivers too.

But I've been through Doha in October and it's hot AF at night. Left Doha at 1:30AM in the morning and it was 31 degrees celcius!
 
A lot of adjustment needed for the teams for this coming weekend at COTA. Temperatures plummeting to a bone chilling 27 degrees on Sunday. Better wrap up warm.
