Good thing too as F1 is committed to the "Spider Pig" for 10 Years minimum contract.
But I tend to agree, despite the Kitch Gilts and Glamour and the bad organisation it turned out to be a damn good race and worth keeping on the calendar.

Huge gamble to lock in that ten year contract. But you gotta play big to win it in Vegas. I’ll definitely go to this race in the future.

I'm just keen to see how Vegas does year 2 before making that call and venturing out that way again. I have a couple tracks though on my todo list for far too long that I have to venture to first.

Edit: In saying that though if I had to do a US GP and had to choose one I reckon based on this weekend I'd probably have Vegas as my first choice.

Will be interesting to see if they can keep and grow the ticket sales and viewership aspects… COTA has done really well with this

I think COTA will be able to weather years to come because it's still a decent and very real race track. Miami, I feel, will struggle to keep up but time will tell. They do have 7 years of races ahead contractually. I think that the FIA is now saturated with street/hybrid race tracks. I doubt there'd be support for another unless its on the African continent (Cape Town as an example).

I was very surprised at how quick the cars were on hard tyres. Didn't think we'd see them at all. Graining must have been worse than expected on the softs and mediums, particularly on low fuel towards the end.

Vegas in general is a pretty good example of the saying about even after you roll a lump of schit in glitter it’s still a lump of schit, just covered in glitter.
Well no, Vegas is schit because it's rolled in glitter. Those trophies are cringe... I wonder if they take AA batteries?

I think you're once again being obtuse.

1. More than one offence.

Offence 1 - He didn't leave space for his opponent forcing him off track,.
Offence 2 - He left the track after doing so thus rejoining and gaining an advantage over those who didn't leave the track or were pushed off track.
Offence 3 - He didn't return the position for either offence.

If you're arguing that Offence 1 and Offence 2 are the same incident then that would be a precedent that any race start with a tight first corner it's acceptable to voluntarily dive bomb your closest competitor and move completely off track and rejoin without losing time with no impact to the rest of the field.

2. Yes there is a rule introduced in 2022.

Please be specific on which year and lap you're referring to for LH you keep citing?

To be clear, 3 is not an offence as he wasn't asked to give the place back. Also, teams/drivers usually do this by themselves if it is clear they gained a place when going off track (e.g. missing a chicane). So, it is either the giving back the place or the 5 second penalty, not both.

I would agree with you that 1 and 2 should be looked at here, but it isn't. Only one will count by the stewards. I'm with the drivers in their calls for harsher punishments for these types of offences. Max was on the dirty side of the track and on the tighter side, it was a boneheaded move - he could easily have spun like Alonso did and wrecked his and others' races.

How long the Stewards took to investigate Verstappen was absurd. Was it lap 20, after a VSC and SC did we actually know the outcome.

Official times show it took 34mins for the FIA to conclude that Verstappen pushed the ferrari off the track... crazy.

Great race. Much better than I expected.

Corner 1 was intense. Everyone seemed to underestimate the grip!

He received the penalty for only for forcing Lec off the track. The leaving the track/gaining an advantage was never adjudicated. It’s an offense if the driver doesn’t give back the position. The leeway is if the driver does it before rhe stewards deem it necessary or it’s too late to do so. There is no onus since 2022 for stewards to give the instruction if I’m not mistaken.

This was probably one of the worst f1 weekends in a very long time
