I don't think its the worst thing for Lawson. If I was in his shoes and struggling with a car even Verstappen says is hard to drive the opportunity to get back into a Racing Bull car and show I'm still on form as a driver is not a bad thing. The only risk is if Yuki or whomever takes over the Redbull seat somehow pulls it off and gets a decent result it means being stuck in the Racing Bull a bit longer but the alternative of a disastrous season in the Redbull is far worse.

Makes sense, would be the common sense thing to do. But alas Verstapentwat and Horny would not allow Their team to do this.

In the past if you are done with your F1 career join Ferrari (mostly still true). It’s becoming more clear that RB is now one of those, only they screw you over much, much earlier.

Yes, yes. Verstappen.
Happens when one uses an iPad to post.

As a bunch of people have pointed out, Verstappen has a particularly highly-sensitive "pointy" style that he likes with his car handling. This seems to be quite different to the other cars, even the VCARB. On top of that, the car has stability and steering issues which even Verstappen battles with let alone a newcomer. Verstappen is very acquainted with these issues and can drive with/around them and still get decent results, but that is actually a tall order for other drivers, it seems.

So the real solution to this second-driver problem is for the big ego people at Red Bull's engineering department to actually listen to feedback from both Verstappen and Lawson to fix the handling. Apparently the RB-21 is less of a problem than the RB-20 car was.

But of course this is Red Bull, so a driver swap will be their go-to solution :X3:

And then Tsunoda goes to Red Bull and beat Verstappen and then says, what's all the fuss been about this Red Bull car, it's just fine for me. Then Verstappen has to exit Red Bull as well and join in a third car with Ferrari to teach them about strategy. :p

Seen a ghost car comparison between Lawson and Verstappen and it seems Lawson cant control the car accelerating out the corners, that is where he is losing all his time.

What nonsense is this? Bar Hamilton who has joined Ferrari at the end of their career?

Please dear god don't be true 😓
Rumours of Yuki and Lawson swapping are really loud right now. This article says an announcement should happen soon.

And multiple reports on Tuesday have indicated that Lawson will be replaced by Tsunoda ahead of next month’s Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

PlanetF1.com understands from sources close to the situation that the speculation is likely accurate, with negotiations ongoing and a formal decision by Red Bull expected later this week.

It is said that the decision was made in a crunch meeting between senior Red Bull figures in Dubai, the home of major shareholder Chalerm Yoovidhya, on Tuesday.

The swap will see Tsunoda make his Red Bull debut at his home race in Japan with Lawson returning to the Racing Bulls team.

Red Bull’s current engine partners Honda, who have supported Tsunoda throughout his racing career, are reported to have had some involvement in the deal.

To be expected. I have a feeling this also has a lot to do with marketing given it's Yuki's home race, which is why they rushed into it before taking a more data-driven approach...
We will see how it goes. Hopefully Yuki adapts quickly. He has definitely been a solid driver of late.

Highly unlikely. There’s very little Honda influence at RB anymore. Especially since the Japanese are aligned with Aston Martin

Sounds like Honda is prepared to pay to have Yuki nxt to Max.

Reports indicate that Honda, a major backer of Tsunoda’s career, which is set to cut ties with Red Bull at the end of this season, is prepared to pay millions to land the Japanese driver a seat alongside Max Verstappen.

Why should Verstappen even care who is in the 2nd car, it's not like he helps them go faster... or perhaps he is afraid Tsunoda might show him up in the 2nd car? Now that would be something if that happened. :sneaky:

Interesting times ahead at Red Bull for sure... the next episode of 'The Young and the Restless' at Suzuka can't come fast enough. :D

Team mates are still people with relationships. I doubt it matters much though in the overall picture. Some added interest at minimum to see how Yuki performs.
