Alonso & Stroll are about to make mind-boggling F1 history: https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/...l-are-about-to-make-mind-boggling-f1-history/

"... As the late-summer sun glints off the Caspian Sea this coming Sunday, September 21, the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will deliver an arcane, yet oddly evocative, piece of Formula 1 history: the first time that any one team’s two drivers will have driven a combined total of 600 F1 grands prix. Yes, really. Six hundred.

The team is Aston Martin. In Baku this weekend Fernando Alonso will start his 418th F1 grand prix – a magnum opus that is becoming so gargantuan that it is beginning to feel mythological – while Lance Stroll will notch up his 182nd. Pause for a moment. Let those numbers settle in your mind. Six hundred F1 grands prix in one two-driver team. ..."

Astounding number of starts for the window licker!

Monaco needs an overhaul. It needs less racing lol.
F1 needs Monaco more that Monaco needs F1.
But it does keep the wives and girlfriends happy and interested in F1, so they can watch that one and we can watch the rest of the races ;)

2026 Sprint races:
G09M2spaEAc-kou

Suppose this is the send off to Zandvoort by having a sprint race. Miami getting a sprint should be fun

"@RBR_Daily 🚨 Isack Hadjar is set to join Red Bull as Max Verstappen's teammate for 2026 as per AMuS"

"... Helmut Marko, the head of motorsport, has been searching for a suitable teammate for Max Verstappen for some time. But in recent years, the results have been rather slim.

Only now, with Isack Hadjar, has a promising candidate emerged. The Frenchman has consistently performed well at Toro Rosso and recently even celebrated his first podium finish at Zandvoort. It's an open secret that the 20-year-old will join Red Bull next season as Verstappen's new teammate.

One of the two spots on the B team for 2026 is also practically secured. Red Bull officials want to give Arvid Lindblad a chance to prove himself in Formula 1. ..."

Ugh... I was enjoying his racecraft.
But if, and make that a big IF, RB designed a car that is not suited only to Verstappen's driving style, it could be a great promotion.
The first year or two of the new Formula, they will be focusing in the new Power Unit and aero performance, so they will both be giving engineering input.
So, unless RB have a perfect car out of the box, then Hadjar will get his chance to go up against Max, and with Newey moving to AM there is not much chance of them pulling it off again.

Yeah, I think Lawson might get another season but I can't see him having a long-term future with Red Bull. It seems Lindblad is being targeted for a potential Max replacement in 2027, should he decide to leave.

Yuki is out of F1, unless maybe if Honda secures him a reserve seat at Aston?

Honda have for all intents and purposes cut ties with Yuki, and the president of HRC was quite blunt about it.

“Tsunoda has a sponsorship agreement with us,” said Koji Watanabe, president of Honda Racing Corporation, quoted by Motorsport Week.

“He is fundamentally an independent driver, but we support him as a sponsor.”

“He needs to take action himself,” he urged. “He’s now in his fifth year, has the ability, and understands the world of F1 well.

“There’s not much more we can do for him. Drivers can’t rely on Honda forever. Someone of Tsunoda’s career level needs to think for himself.”

Maybe he gets another favour from Honda, and they help get a drive in IndyCar, but his time in F1 is pretty much up.

Checo was different.

They specifically went for someone experienced and outside of the Red Bull circle because they were trying to break the duck of the poorly performing second driver, and for a while it appeared to work.

I don't think the Red Bull is designed for Verstappen. It is balanced on a knife edge and has a very small window where it works, and Verstappen has the talent and ability to find that operating window and extract everything out of the car. Lesser drivers cannot find that window and maximise it.

Similar to what Michael Schumacher done with the F310, Ferraris 1996 challenger. Eddie Irvine called it the worst car he had ever driven, stated that he hated climbing into it and had no idea how Michael was winning races in it.

To see how much of an anomaly Verstappen is, go look at what he done this past weekend in a GT4 car at the Nurburgring. Handicapped with reduced power and a weight penalty for being an ''amateur'', he smashed the next best amateur by over a minute in qualifying and was 25 seconds faster than the next best car in his class, which ran without a weight penalty and had full power.

Yeah, no doubt. But he was still brought in to be an able wingman for Max and like you say, it worked for a while. But ultimately, the poisoned second RB seat claimed another.

I hope the same doesn't happen to Hadjar.

I also think age is a factor here. Checo is 35 now. Most F1 drivers start seeing their skills decline in their 30s. Happened with Danny Ric, Vettel, Kimi and Bottas as well. You have your anomalies like Lewis, Hulkenberg and Alonso who have been able to race at a high level late into their 30s, and even then, Lewis and Alonso are not the drivers they were.
