I know Checo had been saying that the design to suit Max was causing issues, and Max being a generational talent was masking the issues. But surely 20th on the grid is not the car.

I wonder if any driver will actually want to go to Red Bull this year? All it is going to do is wreck ones career.
RB corporate chase the constructors trophies beginning of groundeffect era. Max's dominance was calculated/predicted to be so big, that he'd win constructed by himself.

Not about Max's generational talent, but his extreme driving style and how it would exagerate Newey knowledge advantage for first cpl years of groundeffect era as teams caught up, regulations were tweaked.

It wasnt done for Max. It wad done cause Max's unique and extreme driving style facilitated the option.

Its also where all the constant rumours of exit clauses in Max's contract originate. It was a safety clause put in for Max, in case this decision backfired on his performance, rare situation Newey wrong and/or Newey left early in the era for another team, and he suffered nobody at Redbull could pick up from Newey.

Its not a talent issue in 2nd seat, its a driving style requirement, and how extreme it is, that is the issue.

Inevitably, teams would catchup, RB would suffer constructors, but Max would remaining individually competitive for titles. Max didnt request it, but would obviously not complain, no driver would.

Its Marko and Horner. Anybody saying would never happen this way, have not been paying attention to those two running things over the years.
