It's such a detraction from the sport as a whole. Not just Max, goes for all the drivers. I mean we'll never get another "suck my balls mate" moment.
The FIA want's the sport to be more like golf or tennis. The FOM wants the sport to be as marketable as possible. Drivers just want to drive cars fast while having the freedom to vent whenever and however they like. Fans want it to be as pure as possible. I'm guessing the FIA will lose ultimately.

Driver's and fans want the same thing. Management wants to manage. 'Tsek naaiers

Williams thought to be first F1 team to make crucial 2026 step

Williams appears to have got the jump on its Formula 1 rivals and become the first team to switch off windtunnel development of its current car to focus fully on 2026.

While many squads are aggressively developing their challengers for next year’s all-new regulations, most are still continuing to work on developments for their 2025 F1 cars to help bring improvements over the first half of this year.

Even Aston Martin, which is known to have heavily committed resources to the future rules set, revealed in Saudi Arabia that it was now running its 2025 car in its brand-new windtunnel so it can try to work out what has gone wrong with its design and calibrate its new tools ahead of the rules shift.

It has emerged, however, that Williams has already made the complete transition to next year’s FW48, so only developments that have already been signed off, or can be done outside of a windtunnel, will find their way onto the cars of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz this year.

Williams team boss James Vowles said neither he nor team owners Dorilton Capital are too concerned about the final finishing position in the constructors’ championship this year.

Of far more importance to Williams is getting in place the structures and processes that are going to be critical if the team is going to have a realistic chance of fighting for race wins and championships in the future.

Asked how hard it was to convince shareholders about the potential loss of prize money this year by switching off development so soon, Vowles said: “Not difficult. The car, if I had to, I would have moved it from the windtunnel myself. I didn't have to.

“If you want to win, there is only one way to win, and you can't get caught in the now. That's how it's been completely straightforward.

“We were in a mess because we were short-termist all the way through the last 20 years. Some of it was financially driven, some of it driven by other elements, but you can't be in the sport, it has to be investment. And to be clear, investment is about five years forward to get yourself into the right position of leaping [forward].

Would be sad if Williams do tail off, but this does bode well for the future, especially from Dorilton as it shows long-term commitment.

Exactly, they are turning this sport into a PG scripted affair.
Well some drivers decided to bring politics and their own personal agendas into F1. Now we sit with a situation where the FIA must constantly look out for who is going to be offended.
I am actually surprised the shiny pink marshmallow in the Ferrari garage did not get a 10s stop and go.

It's the nature of modern sport for those participating to highlight causes. Not sure why you keep on trying to make an issue out of it nor what the heck JLO has to do with it...

bring politics = destroy sports

just stick to racing around and having fun, argy-barby and what what, none of this politics this and that crap.

Must be tough not being able to simply ignore what bothers you. For me it was a nothingburger as it didn't interfere and really wasn't disruptive of the race weekend.

Good analysis thread here on that turn 1 'inchident' with solid data:

This could easily be solved by putting gravel or a wall there. Lets see who feels they couldn't slow down. Max went off all on his own. Nobody asked him to drive off track.

Oscar certainly didnt divebomb him, else it would be all together different

I have no problem with guys late breaking on the inside and pushing the other driver off the road, Thats how overtaking has been done for ages.
The problem is they started with all this you must leave space on the outside and penalties for pushing people off the track.
Now its all a f up and 50/50 calls to what side the decision will go.

He got done by Piastri, he of all people should realize that, having said that I'm sure Max will have his elbows out the next time these two go racing, from a spectators point of view, this is great.

Nope, when you have a dominant car and leading the championship you can have your elbows out, the chasers have more too loose than you. For Max now every point counts, so he can't risk too much

This is where Lando fell short last year.

He triggered 2021 Max on a couple of occasions and allowed himself to be bullied.
