Just to weigh in here.

The FIA should be a bit embarrassed IMO.

60 PSI = 4.1 Bar
That is just over 4 atmospheres, nowhere near the force required to generate that kind of stopping power, I think I read 2.5G's in this case?

I'm almost certain that they meant Bar.
60 Bar = 870 PSI
Which makes sense.

Modern road cars easily generate over a 1000 PSI and can go up to 1500/2000 PSI in a panic braking situation, on my old 1958 car without power assistance I test the cylinders and lines at about 850 PSI before fitting.


Whether the penalty is fair or not, I think Max got brake tested to unsettle him and it worked.
If this wasn't F1 with all the cameras and spotlights and just normal racing no one would have blinked an eye.

Agreed, Ithought he was robbed till I saw the onboard, he did the same on the previous SC race start which also caused some drivers having to take avoiding action, so th stewards had their eyes on him. They let it go the first time. Should they have given a warning, don't think so. The drivers should know the rules and they let it slide not to disrupt his race. But since he did it again they couldnt ignore it.
Penalty was fair after watching Max's onboard, but i wish he won that race. Anyone but Norris this year!

The stewards referred to FIA Sporting Regulation Article 55.15, which says drivers must not brake erratically or perform dangerous moves when the safety car lights are switched off. Piastri’s sudden braking was ruled a clear breach of the FIA Sporting Regulation and resulted in an immediate penalty.
 
There should be no debate whether Oscar deserved a penalty or not. He did.

The fair question is whether 10 seconds was too harsh - should it have been 5? As a non-papaya supporter, I'm glad it was 10s because even though Lando's crying this year has been annoying, the result from the last race has closed the gap at the top which should create lekker friction between Oscar and Lando as they both enter the second half with a solid chance of being WDC. Max will be there to pick up any scraps he can....

I personally think Oscar will become quite ruthless now after this.

Max will create more friction between the two during the last half of the season when he puts himself in between them in quali or on race day, so I am also expecting fireworks as the business end of the season comes around.

I apologies, you are correct, South Africa left the commonwealth in the 60's when the National Party took power.
Australia is still listed as a commonwealth country, but it is also a Constitutional Monarchy, so I learnt something today.
