Mclaren's dip the last 12 odd years is actually quite surprising if you look at the history, always there or thereabouts. Only a few dips here are there after Senna left etc.

Why is it a surprise?

Ferrari went 21-years without a driver's title.

Lotus no longer exists.

Kym has also taken a summer break he hasn't posted a vid in 5 days dammit

So this will have to do

Christian Horner to Alpine backed as Flavio Briatore told 'time is over':
— Speculation is rife about Christian Horner potentially joining Alpine, with Ralf Schumacher asserting that the era of figures like Flavio Briatore has ended. Schumacher remarked:
“I think the time of figures like Flavio is over. You need tech-savvy people at the top, someone like Horner.”
— Red Bull has released Christian Horner from his operational duties with effect from today (Wednesday 9 July 2025) and has appointed Laurent Mekies as CEO of Red Bull Racing.
— Helmut Marko, Red Bull's motorsport advisor, attributed Horner's departure to several factors, primarily performance issues.
— As Horner missed his first race in over two decades at the Belgian Grand Prix, rumors swirled about his potential return to Formula 1 with Alpine.
— Bernie Ecclestone, Horner's friend and former F1 supremo, speculated on Horner's future in F1, suggesting ownership as a barrier:
“I don't know how or where, or whether he wants to. Probably doesn't want to. Because the position he really wanted at Red Bull was to own part of the team.”
“Unless he gets somebody to put the money up to buy a team, can't see it happening.”
— Ralf Schumacher further commented on the potential fit for Horner at Alpine, suggesting Briatore's role could shift:
“Flavio could then help as an organiser and networker, as a face to the outside world.”

This is Formula 1

Will they be based in England as well?

They are going to operate out of four facilities in 3 different countries, so a bit of a complex setup.

  • A new PU facility is under construction in Charlotte. This is where they will build their own engines, carry out dyno testing and where the simulators will be based. Charlotte is the Silverstone of American motorsports as most NASCAR teams and numerous other teams from other series have their bases there, so it is a region rich with racing expertise. Additional technical work will be done at another of their technical centres in Michigan.
  • A new manufacturing facility is under construction in Indiana, this is where parts will be fabricated and the cars assembled.
  • They have signed a long-term deal with Toyota to use their wind tunnel in Cologne to carry out aero work.
  • Forward logistics and the race team will be based in Silverstone - the 'Silicon Valley' of F1 - at a facility built and owned by Andretti Global. The facility is also said to have capacity for design and R&D teams.
The core of their technical team is experienced, with guys that worked at Jordan, Renault and Virgin/Marussia/Manor.

Seems sensible.
