F1 2026

Why would they spend that kind of money without some sort of guarantee to be included?
There was an F1 car on the track and they prepared a bid but it didn't go anywhere from what I've seen.
It's kind of a chicken and egg thing considering it'll most likely be a privately funded endeavor.

Good to see 2 Red Bull cars close together. Hopefully continues. Ferrari look quick seeing the Charles glory run at the end there.

So much for the cars being slower than last year.... we're in FP2 and if not mistaken, the 2024 lap record is already beaten by Piastri.

What?

We're around 4 seconds slower than last year...

Yes the cars are quicker than the 1973 Formula 1 times, but still

Not about being slower, it's about not being able to run flat out...

Piastri beat the current lap record during FP2 today that was set in 2024, you know, just 2 years ago, during the prior reg's....

Remind me again, when were drivers able to really go full out like the good ol days? What with the pushed tyre degradation and fuel load limits, controlled budgets for part replacement etc etc?

And wasn't this tracks suppose to show up issues with the system, with lower chances for charging batteries?

OMG here we go again.
Practice is practice, its not racing or qualifying, don't read anything into it.

Qualifying is not racing. You cannot compare qualifying times or practice times with racing times. During a race the car is on heavy fuel with new tyres and mostly old tyres with low fuel.

So the closest you can compare is qualifying times with previous qualifying times.
Now its also not fair to compare this years qualifying times to last year as the teams had 4 years to make the cars faster.

So best is to compare qualifying times from tomorrow to qualifying of 2022
So we will be looking at around 1min 18s
