F1 2026

You need to take your medication, little boy. I like Max.

Best advice I can give you today is to block that stupid m'fer. He makes Lance Stroll look like a rocket scientist. Once he is blocked there's very little stupid crap being said in this thread all of a sudden.

These are the supposed best drivers in the world, if they know there's a speed difference they should account for it. F1 has always been a dangerous sport, they knew that coming in.
It is also dangerous to drive slow in the fast lane on the high way

I am all for different opinions, but they should be based on some form of logic.

vaaldumb does not have logic, and I believe he uses an AI agent to create posts that would generate the maximum amount of outrage possible. blocking him makes your life much better

That must be the reason almost nobody responds to his rubbish.
Look I know I sometimes question some people's intelligence, but seriously, if you come up with things there should be some logic behind it?
Can I show you how many times have you quoted me just the last week?

People drive slow in the fast lane all day everyday in Cape Town, and even then most people are smart enough to know that it is to be expected and plans to go around them ;)

- Forbid charging the battery from the engine, only rear recovery during braking.

- Allocate 3.2MJ of the battery for full deployment on the longest straight for epic super speed twitchy overtakes with straight mode (can even allow it from the corner before it and make it driver controlled, so driver skill at controlling twitches and wheelspin become a factor)

- Allocate the remaining 0.8MJ of the 4MJ battery for 6 seconds of 60KW deployment anywhere else, which is what KERS was in 2011-13

That way
- Everyone can easily charge the 4MJ capacity battery as 7MJ-9MJ has been the per lap charging limit for the last races/quali so charging 4MJ via braking should be easy
- Everyone deploys the same 350kw in the same place every lap so no F1-to-F2 speed difference
- Drivers have a bigger role in deployment

Drop the tyres down a level too as it's been too conservative with everyone one-stopping for hards

The man is not happy.

After qualifying 11th at the Japanese Grand Prix, Verstappen said that he had to figure out “life here” in the F1 paddock, with the new rules – which feature a heavy emphasis on battery management – having sucked a great deal of enjoyment out of the sport for Verstappen.

The four-time World Champion was later asked directly at Suzuka, whether he actually meant that he was going to leave F1 at the end of the season.

“That’s what I’m saying,” he confirmed to BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I’m thinking about everything inside this paddock.”

He added: “Privately I’m very happy.

“You also wait for 24 races. This time it’s 22. But normally 24. And then you just think about is it worth it, or do I enjoy being more at home with my family, seeing my friends more when you’re not enjoying your sport.”

Verstappen’s best grand prix result so far this season is sixth, though he has consistently stressed that Red Bull’s on-track struggles play no part whatsoever in this questioning of his future in the sport.

He can “easily accept to be in P7 or P8 where I am”, but when coupling that with a lack of enjoyment when driving this generation of F1 car, that is when he starts to think this is “just not what I want to do”, as he called this ruleset “anti-driving”.

Verstappen is regarded as the highest-earning driver in Formula 1, but for Verstappen, “it’s not about money any more because this has always been my passion.”

All interesting suggestions. But wouldn’t that also lead drivers to brake unnecessarily? I’d rather see deployment happen wherever the driver finds it advantageous, instead of being limited to a long ‘DRS stretch’ of track.
My view is that they should aim for a middle ground where the gap between the extremes is acceptable, but no longer poses a safety risk. Exactly where that point lies, I’m not sure.

No because under these fictitious rules there's no benefit to charging the battery early, you'll lose time and potentially track position by braking early. Whether you charge the battery fully by turn 4 by braking earlier in prior corners or by turn 11 makes no difference since the battery is only allowed used fully on the main straight after the final turn for instance.

I’d rather see deployment happen wherever the driver finds it advantageous, instead of being limited to a long ‘DRS stretch’ of track.

The whole reason super clipping exists is to charge the battery because deployment at the next straight is more beneficial that maintaining speed at the end of the straight .

If you let drivers deploy, you will end up with the same situation - someone deploys their battery on the main straight so they superclip on the back straight, but another driver is deploying on the back straight because he'll rather superclip at the end of the main straight because his tyres are better and he can make up time in the corners after superclipping, etc and you end up with the performance difference of F1 to F2.

WEC had LMP1 hybrid classes with 2MJ, 4MJ, 6MJ and 8MJ that all raced safely with each other in the night during rain at LeMans. They need to get some engineers and drivers from that era to give advice because the FIA is getting embarrassed all the discussion.

Verstappen being so outclassed reminds me of when Senna was embarrassed by the Williams that had active suspension, where he started from pole at Kyalami and was third by the end of the pit straight, with the 1st place guy 4 seconds ahead in 1 lap
