F1 2026

OMG now the clown
1. No proper driver would leave the gap regardless.
2. Driver ahead on the outside must be left room by the driver on the inside.

As you wish...

The first paragraph — “you want to hit that chicane perfect so you have good exit speed” — is perfectly sensible racecraft, but legally/sportingly it means almost nothing. A driver does not acquire the right to the optimum racing line because taking another line will hurt his exit speed. Once another car legitimately establishes an overlap and earns priority, the fact that accommodating it compromises your exit is simply part of racing.

The crucial question is whether the teammate's alleged “dive” was actually a legitimate inside overtake. Under the 2026 guidelines, an inside attacker is entitled to room only if all of these are satisfied: its front axle is at least alongside the other car's mirror before and at the apex; it is fully controlled and has not “dived in”; and it has taken a reasonable line that allows it to complete the move within track limits. The FIA literally uses the words “not have ‘dived in’.”

So this part:

“No proper driver will expect a teammate to come make a ridiculous dive there”

isn't a rules argument, but if the move genuinely was a late dive that failed those criteria, there is a strong rules-based argument against the overtaking driver. If, however, the attacker had the required overlap before the apex, remained controlled and could make the corner, calling it a “ridiculous dive” doesn't change anything. And there is no special FIA rule giving teammates less entitlement to attack one another.

The second paragraph is where the claim becomes much weaker:

“Once you are now compromised going wide on the outside then its impossible to make the next corner and leave space…”
For a chicane or S-bend, the FIA expressly deals with this situation. The inside/outside criteria can apply to each element of the sequence. The guidelines say that priority will generally be given to the first corner element, but the stewards must consider the entire sequence holistically. They specifically examine how the cars arrived there, whether the move was late or optimistic, what each driver could reasonably anticipate, whether it could be completed on track, understeer/locking, collision avoidance, and whether either driver's positioning contributed to what followed.

That means “my angle made it impossible to leave space at the second part” is not an automatic defence. It may be highly relevant, but the stewards ask why the car ended up with that angle.

There are basically two very different cases:

Attacker makes an illegitimate late dive into part one. The outside driver is forced onto an abnormal line and physically cannot negotiate part two normally. That sequence can weigh heavily against the attacker. The FIA expressly tells stewards to consider late braking, diving in, whether the manoeuvre was optimistic, and how the corner sequence caused the incident. In that case, saying “look at the second corner in isolation” would indeed be wrong.

Attacker legitimately establishes priority into part one. Now the defender cannot simply insist on the normal racing line because anything else compromises his exit. The FIA's opening principle is explicit: once the overtaking driver has established priority, the defending driver bears responsibility for avoiding a collision or forcing the overtaker off. The document also stresses that a car alongside cannot simply “disappear.”

And the actual Sporting Regulations reinforce that this is fundamentally about blame, not optimal racing lines: stewards penalise an incident when a driver is found wholly or predominantly to blame. Drivers must also make every reasonable effort to remain on track and cannot rejoin unsafely or gain a lasting advantage.

The FIA's 2026 penalty guidance also specifically lists causing a collision and forcing another driver off the track as punishable offences, normally with a 10-second baseline in a race, reducible to five seconds where there are mitigating circumstances.
Ai slop, go waste someone else's time

How was it a ''ridiculous dive''?

He was drawing alongside well before the corner, and Charles had a ton of space to move into on his left.

By the time they reached the corner, Hamilton essentially had the apex.

Lewis even gave him space to make turn two, something Charles didn't afford him on exit.

You have not added anything new to what I said.
It was a ridiculous move, especially on a teammate. All the commentators felt the same.
Hamilton complained over Ferrari radio that “Charles pushed me off.” Sky F1 commentator Martin Brundle did not agree.

“I’m sorry, Lewis, but Charles was always going to do that,” he said.

“You bundle him into the first apex, he’ll bundle you straight back, and it has cost Hamilton dearly.”

The FIA stewards were seemingly on a similar wavelength. Having noted that incident between Hamilton and Leclerc, it was soon decided that no further action would be taken.

Yeah, the cracks are showing a bit with Charles lately. I know he went through a stage where he was binning it regularly. He needs to get his head back into a good place. He's now nearly 40 points behind Hamilton.

Note how Charles is the only driver taking that ultra wide line. Here vaaldamme is whining about someone passing their team mate on the opening lap/corner because "you just don't overtake your teammate on the outside on lap 1 or corner 1"... and here we have Charles pushing his teammate wide.

Now that's something you don't do, except Charles seems to think it's the only way to beat Hamilton.
To be fail on Charles there, he did have George on his inside so couldn't really make that corner under those circumstances without backing off.

Like every post you quote from me you lack comprehension of basic logic. I literally explained this a few post back.
SO using your pictures. Look at your first picture.
Because Charles have a clown dive bombing, his car trajectory in the first corner is totally different than the rest of the field. He then ends up pressed on the inside of the next corner, totally away from the normal racing line on that corner.
So yes he cannot go around the corner like the others because he is entering it from a different line, because of his genius teammate.
This was explained on the tv too. They showed onboard of his steering wheel locked to make the corner.
Yet here you sit on MBB and don't even understand basic racing.
