Well this is a game that I am looking forward to and by the look of things it will NOT dissapoint.

This is the latest hands-on at E3 that I have found, it is short but oh so sweet. This article desrbies teh battle system a bit more and Imsut say that it is getting me all giddy just thinking of this game!

Hands on, hopes high: Fable 2
By Frank Caron | Published: July 17, 2008 - 11:06AM CT

Unfortunately for us, Microsoft's show floor offering at the open exhibit hall was a little anemic, but I did manage to sneak in a good half an hour of Fable 2. A Lionhead rep took me through a long combat demo before we finally started off on a little co-op adventure.

Fable 2 builds on the various foci of the first game with its distinct mish-mash of different gameplay engines. There's a simulation side of the game, a social side of the game, a business side of the game, and a combat side of the game. These four systems work in tandem to make Fable 2 a fairly complex game.

In spite of these complexities, though, combat is surprisingly easy to get in to. Every character has three core attacks: sword, gun, and magic. By pressing X, Y, and B for varying durations to unleash these attacks, players can string together combos which will deal with enemies near and far. How you choose to fight in battle—say you favor a particular method of fighting over another—affects how your character develops, and how much XP you receive. You get specific XP for killing enemies with a specific type of attack, and stringing them together into combos rewards bonus experience.

Once I got a handle on the action, the rep popped into the game with me at the touch of a button. He explained that when a friend visits your world, the items and gold they receive will stay with them, but that they're progress in the story was independent from yours: they can't go off and change the way your story progresses. Rather, they just serve as a visitor to your world that can follow you around, help you out, meet your family, and just enjoy your specific version of the world.

We quickly ran through some combat that proved to be exciting: this is the kind of experience that the Xbox 360 has been sorely lacking. Together, we hacked and slashed through foes, he with his great sword and I with my spells. Our characters interacted with each other and there were some pretty cool back-to-back moments when we found ourselves surrounded and had to fight for our lives. It's a relatively simple system, but the potential is there for some great experiences to share with a friend.

Fable 2 is almost here, and by all accounts it looks like it will be a much better game than its predecessor. The one most important question—whether or not the game would wind up being as short and, in a sense, shallow as Fable—couldn't yet be answered, but you can be sure that we'll have that answer for you when the game ships this October, exclusively for the Xbox 360.

Can't wait for it.

Played the first one on PC.

Wonder if Fable 2 will be released on PC together with PS3 and xbox...

to be honest, I don't know what all the fuss was about with Fable 1, so unless this one is completely different/better ....... it won't be in my collection. Hopefully I can see a nice trailer to help me make up my mind.

Also really keen for this game, played the original on the PC and I was blown away by the various systems at play. I really liked the fighting ring, great place to earn your knuckles :D And even though it chipped me off at first, the fishing was legendary... Especially those unique catches :p

Apparently the main thread is only 12 hours which is a bit worrying, although I suspect there's a lot more about the game to be revealed.

In other words similar to Mass Effect - a total of 3 planets for the main story...the side quests will probably kick in and flesh it out.

I was a real fan of the first Fable, so no questions asked for Fable II. What really interests me is the online co-operative, especially how you can interact with your friends worlds, and how their choices have effected it. should be interesting.

Well this is interesting, I am quite intrigued to know what is going to happen. Hmmm...I am more than tempted to go and download the games now just to see what impact it has on the game. :p

Fable 2 Pub Game Was Glitched On Purpose
By Pete Haas: 2008-09-16 20:34:06

You may have noticed that the Fable 2 Pub Games, gambling mini-games in which you could earn gold that you'll be able to transfer over to Fable 2, had a glitch that let you rack up a lot of money pretty easily. Before you start making big plans for your newfound loot, though, know this: the glitch was intentional. That's right, you just got played!

Fable 2 designer Peter Molyneux told IGN that players who used the glitch will be in for a surprise. If this surprise results in some sort of story shift - you find out the money's counterfeit or some dude kneecaps you - that would be a pretty funny twist. It's certainly a lot more clever than some of the other ideas that were tossed around for this game, like "hey, let's let the players grow trees."

The Pub Games cost 800 Microsoft Points to purchase off Xbox Live Arcade. However, if you pre-order the game for select retailers, you'll get them for free. If you're not aware of the Pub Games glitch, it goes something like this: during the Fortune's Tower game, pressing the left bumper as bets are being placed will increase the jackpot tenfold for free. Easy money to be sure but beware, for the Eye of Molyneux is upon you

Sounds awesome :) Im another huge fan of the first Fable, cant wait for the 2nd!

360 exclusive...

Thats what they said about the first one :p Xbox exclusive.

But if it really is this time I can get my hand on a Xbox for free :) But I would really prefer the PC version :D

First one wasn't too bad - far too easy though.

+1. But still a great game :D

And maybe an expansion pack after a while :D

Hmmm... Seems like I'll have to get the first one somewhere so that I'll enjoy this one fully. Sooo much catching up to do!
