Hi,

I've got BIS & BES on my Torch 9800. On BB Facebook, since it's first boot, I haven't been able to sync 'Blackberry Calendar Application' or 'Blackberry Contacts Application' - both BB Facebook Options are 'greyed out'. I upgraded to BB Facebook to see whether that'd help to no avail. I contacted our company's system admin to see whether this was some type of a BES policy and he advised that nothing/no BB functionality is specifically excluded by himself.

Any thoughts on this would be most helpful?

Thanks!

well if somehow you managed to do the impossible and completely idiotic by activating both bis and bes, that would most likely be your problem. Also your ISP would havet o be complete morons and go through a hell of a lot of effort to activate both of those services on your line.

First step would be to get 1 of them removed so that they can stop conflicting, and if that does not help try compltely removing FB, battery pull and then load it up again. You could also try upgrading your OS, the original 1 that came with the Torch was not exactly bug free.

It has nothing to do with having bis and bes. It will not conflict. Mine works with both bis and bes without issues. No need to remove either !!

There is a policy on bes that needs to be set to allow 3rd party apps like facebook to access you calendar and contacts. I had the exact same issue and after a lot of research I got it fixed.

As far as I've seen, the moment you activate on BES, there's no more sync with Facebook. It's not a BES policy either. From a security point of view, it makes sense.

Will post a screen shot later of the exact bes policy I am referrring to. Like I said I had the exact same issue and by allowing 3rd party apps to access my contacts and calendars, it worked. Just need resend it policy.

@ CranialBlaze - Yip, I must've managed to do the impossible and completely idiotic. I was told that BIS was for access to personal emails etc and that BES would be a service controlled /restricted by the office. As I didn't want limitations, I subscribed to both (obviously at a slight premium). I need/want full access, hence wanted both and wasn't advised to the contrary.

I'm not sure I understand now. Can I un-subscribe to BIS without losing functionality? I'd gladly do so to save the few $$$...

Just keep one thing in mind. With bes, all traffic goes from your blackberry to the bes server and then on to the net. So if your office internet is down, you blackberry won't browse and will be "useless". Keep bis as a backup.
