Facebook Promoted Posts lets users pay for better visibility

Thats the dumbest thing Ive heard all year!

Think its meant for companies that advertise on fb

No, it's intended for individuals.

You get the first one free and thereafter you pay (it's been around for a few months) this is the real reason FB tries to avoid showing your feed in a chronological order.

Facebook is really trying hard to alienate their user base. They are going down the route of MySpace... leaving Google Plus as the only option left, just needs to pick up.

Promoted posts from companies:
- spam their comments with links to competitors

...and go!

The new myspace makes Facebook look ancient. Not sure if I could pick between G+ and MySpace.

Fukc no. WHY!!!!! Facebook is no longer fun. :(

EDIT: I will block every single friend who does this, should it ever come to SA

i already get irritated with the "flags ye may fancy" thing which wants me to "arr" (i'm on pirate english) these stupid pages. suncoast casino, castle lager, that girl who sings "pump it up", etc.

i stopped using that facebook app because every time i logged in it was on popular posts first (often the first few were simply old and had no replies).

i don't want other people to promote their crap, because one person might be giving away free tickets to a naked supermodel mechanical bull riding competition, but instead all i see is someone's pictures of their cats doing cat things (read "nothing")

My So uses FB and I know she installed some or other app that gets rid of a lot of the junk FB throws at you. Will ask her the name.

As for me: Not interested in FB, G+ etc

Edit: www.fbpurity.com/

Can't imagine anyone who would willingly go for this.
For businesses it might make sense, but for normal users, no.
Unless maybe it IS for business and the media is just blowing it out of proportion again.
Facebook FAIL.
