Durban - A Durban woman who is seeking legal advice after she was harassed on Facebook has created a fan page to help other victims of cyberbullying.

Within a week of her picture being posted on Facebook page “SA’s finest girls”, Claudia Crystal Naidoo, 21, received hundreds of derogatory comments, from mainly female users of the social networking site.

Naidoo, who does not know who posted her photo on to the page, said she first became aware of the page a week ago.

A friend told her about it and when she logged on, she was shocked at the comments posted below her picture.

“It is disgusting what some people are capable of commenting. And for most of the derogatory comments to come from women, it is shocking,” Naidoo said yesterday...

Naidoo’s boyfriend, Randy Singh, 25, said he also came under attack on the fan page but “didn’t bother responding”.

“It’s sick that some women believe that victims of rape ask to be attacked because of what they wear. People need help. I will support my girlfriend until the end,” Singh said.

At least he's doing the proper thing and ignoring them.

People called her a slut and others posted that she should not complain when she is raped.

On this Facebook page, which has since been removed and had 3 000 fans, Naidoo is shown in a revealing top, licking a lollipop. The 21-year-old said she felt she was victimised because she is Indian.

“There were other pictures on the page. Some very provocative with girls in their underwear, but I was targeted. People who said they were offended by my picture continued to comment on it.”

Give me one instance where you've seen me being nasty to another female on the forum...and the one with blu last week doesn't count cos she was nasty first.

Only on the forums or in real life as well? I know you mentioned it once before, but I haven't really seen it...well except for you know who, but she's nasty to everyone :D

An edit for you , Shaun in case you come across this thread again :p I read the article and you missed one important point.Yes, there was nastiness, but I doubt it was intended to be malicious or spiteful or that there was jealousy involved.

Trying to be objective here, personally doesn't do anything for me. I don't think the pic is great or anything. It's probably not something you want your boss or mother in law seeing.

Well now, at least she is keeping her cards close at hand... you know, for when she decides to press charges, at her leisure of course, because that's what happens when people don't like your picture and lord forbid "say it". Lesson learned.

If she really wanted to end it, all she had to do was ignore it and the whole thing would have passed in less than a week - the best way to fuel a social fire is to go on the offensive. By all means, defend yourself but don't expect apologies and flowers.

Some people should have their houses raided for any piece of equipment that can connect to the internet and have it all destroyed in front of them while they read a subpoena forcing them to go to at least three courses on freedom of speech, social media and common sense. - not Crystal of course... I wouldn't want to get on that naughty comment list.

The Protection of Harassment Act, which came into effect on April 27, allows victims of cyber harassment and bullying to apply for a protection order from the clerk of a court, which would then be issued to the alleged offender. If the person contravenes the order they would be found guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years.

What do you need a protection order for?! Get off facebook, make your profile private, untag yourself from photos you dont want traced back to you. This whole thing is just another attempt at using facebook bullying to develop some twisted overnight fame. If every time a female was sued for being nasty to another female just about every female would be broke because of all the suing and counter suing going around.

How about not wasting taxpayers money on social media boo boos and lets get on with putting real life rapists in prison.

well quite frankly she asked for it posing in such a manner. there is a way to pose and there is a way to pose, and the way she is posing is for playboy. some people don't like it and have the right to comment. what happened to freedom of speech.

So if she gets raped it will also be ok because she's asking for it? That's what some people seem to be saying.

She said she didn't post it where there comments were made, only on her own profile. If that's the case, is she still 'asking for it'?
