Failed harddrive - platter type recovery

Are there any companies that can do advanced recovery from a failed drive, if so - could I have recommendations and cost estimates.

This is not for me - but someone else who has all their pesonal stuff on an external drive which has completely failed -and no backups.

I believe the drive is in the 2TB range, they're happy to ship it off where required.

Have used them before. They book the drive in and then quote you according to the size and what they need to do to get the data back. Then either you supply a new drive for the backup or they do. Free quotes
