Failures at the World Cup

So after so much hype about the Worlds best and second best and blah blah blah....

Rooney,
Ronaldo,
Messi


All seemed to have flopped at this world cup. I wonder if Torres will live up to his name later tonight?
Are these players just over paid and lacked the ambition to perform at the world cup? Or could it they just exhausted from the long 2009/2010 season?

I was just about to post a similar thread but I have to agree with you 100%. All you ever hear is this player is the best in the world and that player is the best in this division..yadda...yadda...yadda and where are they today............no where. way to much hype over these woosies.
 
We should not forget that the other teams know the "good" players and try to nulify their effect by deliberate targeting!

Ye but Messi has always stepped above that...

Rooney just ended up with a crappy team and 4-5-1 formation with no support.

Messi... just seems like the goal keepers keep a special eye on him.

Perhaps the International teams just not playing well with them...

K-a-k-a should not have been selected to start with, his recent form doesn't warrant it. The others definitely failed, Rooney & Messi epically.
 
Kaka wasn't really a failure and it was a good decision to select him.
On the day Netherlands were better, Cesar conceded a soft goal and Brazil had to defend even with their strikers.
Watch Kaka and you'll see he was one of the better players even until the dying moments of the match.

Btw I'm glad Netherlands qualified.
 
Ronaldo never does well for Portugal regardless... scored 1 goal in 2 years!

Messi I think didnt fail. He had some nice assists and some nice shots. Rooney failed.. he did nothing! I think Messi did better out of em all
 
Are you mad?

Messi had a great World Cup. Sure he didnt bag any goals but his performances were outstanding. Even when Higuain scored 3, Messi was still made man of the match.
