Heya gentlemen! Thanks for your attention! Ive got a landlord here, who uses to download torrents 24 hours a day, 30 days a month... We have the telkom 2mbps shared among 3 of us. The router is the Mega 100WR. Im new in the house... and the internet performance is worse than Eric Moussambani at swimming... I cant even load an speed test the most of the times... at its best, when it works:

o(╥﹏╥)o

What I wanna do, is split evenly the bandwidth when is required... After reading a bit, I ended up here:

What do you think guys I should write down here to set the thing up? Am I in the wrong place?

Any hand given will be very helpful!

That really is one of the most unusual references I've seen in a while :D

Should you not first talk to the landlord before you go messing with their internet?

Yo! so hey, you are kind right... xD but it doesn't change the fact that we will need to do it anyway, no matter if I speak with him or not. We all will be downloading something at some point. I just wanna make it fairly and not as unbalanced as it is now. It takes me 15 minutes to get to open an email account... I have 6 of them... is ridiculous!
So nobody knows how should I set up this thing to split the bandwidth??

Hey! Well, you are kinda right... xD but it woudlnt change the fact that we will need to balance it anyway! It takes me 15 minutes to check an email account... I have 6 accounts... its ridiculous!

So anybody know how to set up this thing properly to avoid this huge unbalances of bandwidth??

PS:and there is no way to reply this damn message... too slow to send it trough apparently...
PS2: All my respect to sir Eric btw... He probably could beat me in a running world lap race, catching up me still 1 km far from the start line and moonwalking over my death body...

I don't know if a basic modem/router has an effective QoS. It might be more a throttle kind of QoS.

If you want a excellent home setup, I'd suggest investing in a rb750. It might be expensive, but it can do everything you want and more. If I remember correctly, you can setup time-based QoS, load balancing QoS, IP based etc.

It can even dial your PPPoE connection.
My 2c.

I was looking for something with better QoS management as my current setup (Kerio Control) was not very effective.

I ended up getting a TP Link WDR4300 on Fri, flashed Gargoyle (branch of OpenWRT) and spent the weekend fiddling with the QoS settings.

So far I am suitably impressed. It is definitely doing a better job then Kerio.

Thank you all so much for replying and for your suggestions!!

I was actually thinking in do whatever is possible to do with the things I have already... Seeing there is no really any actual answer makes me think that I cannot do much with it! hahaha Is that so??

Is internet access in the lease agreement (or what ever its called)?

If not, then the internet can only to be used by him, since he is paying for it.

Hehehe, nah, is not the case. Some have recommended me to speak with him, which I did, didnt make a difference... you are worried about if I might be paying my part, hahaha, all of you are really nice citiziens! except maybe Rishalin, xD who told me to get the password and own the whole connection! : D which I will seriously consider soon!

Nah, just jokking, But yes of course I am paying my part. I paid as well a debt he left behind to activate again the connection, and I paid the deposit of the new line. So far, ive paid 2000R more than the others, because they wouldnt move a finger to get it working otherwise...and now, the only thing I want is to be able to get my third of connection when I need it... (-’_'-)

Independence

Seems the only real solution is to get your OWN setup which YOU can control.
Take the money you spending on the other setup and do your own thing
Maybe get a 3G router if you have signal.
Then you "OWN" IT.
