Fairpoint DSL New Hampshire settings

My friend in Greenville NH just started with Fairpoint and would like to use his Netgear N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router DGN2200v3. The installation genie doesn't work nor does the detect internet settings. The dsl light is solid green but the internet light is red (there was a brief period of green but it went to red when we opened a browser.) Can anyone help.

We've used the following basic settings in internet page of the router.

Yes to login
ISP = PPPoE

user name and password from Fairpoint entered
service name left blank
connection mode: always on

Internet IP address = get automatically from ISP

Domain name server address = get automatically from ISP

NAT enabled

Computer MAC address = get automatically from ISP
