This is South Africa. Sadly anything is possible, Criminals rule the roost. Now think about the guys with stolen cars getting phone calls from cops who "found" their car, a few is due for the towing back from the border. That's an inside job.

Add some youngster, scared to tell his GF just in case she might believe it somehow. In this case he was with her, but the doubt aspect turns you into a victim.
Hey? What have stolen cars got to do with this scenario? It's not like they are going to go to jail for someone phoning them and saying their car was stolen.
