Hi all

Is there a way or device that can fake the heartbreat signal between 2 decoders?

Meaning... inseatd of linking the 2 decoders via cable , instead have someting generating the signal sent via one decoder to the other decoder.
The wires are a schlepp and my braai on the farm is far from the main house where I want to use my second decoder.
For 2 1100 decoders the tested maximum lenth of cable between decoders is 100m , mutch too short for the distance of the braai to the main house.

How about have the signal from one decoder (decoder1) to be fed from the main decoder over the internet via computer 1 to comuter 2 and then again from cumputer 2 to decoder 2.
Becuase the signal is basically just a puse , this signal over the internet should not use a lot of bandwith.

This may sound lame but... how about recording the signal from decoder 1 for lets say 3 hours and then "playing it back" to decoder 2 at the braai location?

Comment?

Only guys in PTA that braai THAT often for this to be a problem - haha
So I assume taking the box to the braai area is a shlep.
Pity about the whole scard marrige thingy else you could simply swap cards.
Wonder if dstv allows you 2 cards on one decoder as that would solve your problem...
Sure they do it for guys with holiday homes.
Let us know what they say if you decide to make the call.

You might want to consider one of those wireless AV transmitters, although I don't think they can cover the distance you require

Try it, if it works let us know. Good luck.

guess we need to find more technical details on the hearbeat signal

Get a Dreambox or maybe a SmartWi to transmit the card to another decoder.

I'm trying to do the same.

I'm also trying to do this. Sorting out the problem with a standard SD signal is fine. Install one ontop of the other and run a coax to your destination, with a powered amp as the distance seems to be an issue. Also you wont be able to use a remote transmitter from that far ( I think)

My issue is to run HD to a second location. You get HDMI over 2 cat5 cables but also not as far. Then you get HDMI with a IR(for remote comands) over fibre optic cable. They cost about 600USD. A bit to expensive considering the problem at hand.

I heard the hartbeat signal runs at 7mhz. I'm sure one would be able to convert that signal into a digital one to run it over an exsisting IP network.

I'm looking into solving the problem. I'll let you know i find any thing worth doing
