I bought a sim last week from Rain, which didnt activate so I got help from the Rain rep here, they tried to help as best they could here, they organised a sim swap for me, which I received today. It still didnt work so I queried it again. I got a phone call from Rain Support, I gave my ID, I gave the sim ID, they checked everything, they said it was active. They then asked where I live so I gave my address. Then they said "you have coverage but you dont have coverage". I assume that means that on coverage maps it shows that my area is covered when it in reality is not. Even Rain's coverage map said there is a cell tower 3km away. Granted Im not fully aware of the functional distance a cell tower can operate up to but 3km seems well within coverage. So long story short Rain says they can cover my area but they cant.

The coverage was a bit spotty in the area but on the location pin, my address, it was fully covered

I don't really see the issue.

Which advert was deemed as false advertising to you?

All cellular coverage maps are an approximation of coverage. As a rule of thumb, you need to be deep into the solid coverage map for a decent connection.

If you're on one of their unlimited home uncapped packages and received a router from them (and are indeed well in their coverage zones), they may arrange for a signal booster or an external antenna to be installed if you report the issue.

If you just have a sim on pay as you go, then you're out of luck.

Not false advertising. Disclaimer is succinct.

3km is a bit far without a directional antenna and some aiming. If you just have a normal router indoors somewhere, it probably won't connect with that distance. Use the optimiser tool on their web portal to see if you have other towers in the vicinity.

Otherwise get a high gain directional antenna or a router with an outdoor antenna component.

True … 3km is way to far just for a sim to connect … depending on what package you took … give us more info bro

Nah... it's easier to use "false advertising" without providing proof to the falsified advert in question.

Also OP admitted to patchy coverage, and seems to be on a basic pay as you go SIM.

Seems he's the one fooling us.

Oh I see … that’s bad
