Hi guys,

Do any of you have this setup? Does it work? Besides sharing apps, apple music, and location, are there any other advantages?

Is it worth moving from the US store to the local one just to connect with my SO?

Thanks in advance.

I moved from US to SA store for this. Are those advantages mentioned not enough?

We have apply music but always use it on my account (on an old iPad) only. The only use we have for this is finding my wife's phone whenever she misplaces it! Oh and it gives me an idea of wheeler she is when she travels.

Why are you using the US store? Our prices are so much cheaper.

I've been on US store since iPhone 3g and I've invested in a lot of apps. Same with my wife and daughter.

It's a bit of a sore one to change now and lose the lot, although it makes sense when you look at the sharing prices.

Yup use it at present and it's rock solid.

Very very rarely use my US account anymore. Last time was with Pokemon I think.

In general I don't really find any lack of content on the local store unless you want to jump for obviously region locked stuff.

Years ago the US store made sense for the content, but these days it's very much on par and using your credit card instead of vouchers is so much simpler.

******

I wouldn't "move" accounts.

Keep the old one and create a new SA one alongside it.

Especially easy if you use gmail as you can just create an alias and receive the email for both in one place.

If I'm the main account holder, and my kid want so buy a song, using their card, it only shows my card as payment option.. Anybody else have this issue? He has his own card on his account and purchased stuff from the store/music before, but now after the family sharing setup, the only option is my card.

P.S asking on behalf of a colleague I don't have kids :)

My account has always been US prepaid one, so no credit card involved. Since I have the 200GB storage plan, I'd like to share it with my boys (SA accounts). Obviously family sharing requires my to have a CC payment method , which is not going to happen on the US account.

So what are my options ?... creating a 2nd SA account with CC, and create storage plan on the SA one. Setup family sharing between the new account, my US one plus the other 2 SA ones. Not for app sharing , just for storage sharing and maybe location services. If this works, then I'll revert the US storage plan back to the default 5GB. I'll keep on using the US one as my main account
Will this work, or am i missing something here ?

I also used to be on the US store, buying vouchers etc. etc. I finally took the plunge about 3 years ago and moved my account to SA. Registered my CC and signed up for Apple Music with Family Sharing. Best decision ever since now the SO and kid can find their own songs and DL them without bothering me.

Those are enough. When I do the move will I lose all my apps?

Anything on your device will remain there.

Anything in future that you purchased you'll simply need to re-download with that account it was purchased with.

Fortunately I used more free apps than anything else when I made the move.

You can "migrate" your account from US to SA so long as your balance is used up.

OR you log a case with Apple Support to state that you are happy to scrap the balance.

Bear in mind though that any Apps/content you have on the US store that IS NOT available in SA will be lost. Like Books which we still don't have and a handful of Apps.

Otherwise you can do what you suggested about without much issue, but ultimately you are going to find for the benefits you'd really want to remain signed into that SA account permanently.
