Berlin - German police say leftists activists have clashed with police and far-right supporters during duelling demonstrations in the northern port city of Hamburg.

Several police were injured during the melee, which saw the leftists set fire to barricades and use pyrotechnics, bottles and stones to attack police and the far-right demonstrators.

Both marches on Saturday attracted hundreds of people.

Police spokesperson Sandra Levgruen says the leftists tried to stop the far-right rally by erecting barricades and setting them ablaze. Officers used water cannons to extinguish the blazes and keep the leftists in check.

Separately, police say more than 10 000 people followed a call by unions and major parties to demonstrate peacefully in the city centre against the far-right march.

More than 1 000 officers were on duty to keep the protests in check.

These left wingers are pretty violent, thugs if you ask me.
Right wing marches appear quite peaceful these days and left wingers are very violent.
 
what is the definition of right wing in this case.. nowadays it is anyone who opposes government intervention, which is scary.
 
The problem with the loony left and the loony right in Europe is that they are two sides of the same coin. Of course most people have been convinced by media propaganda that they are very different so they don't see the connection. How about this one; the Nazis were the National Socialist German Workers' Party (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_Party). Socialist, workers party sound familiar? Both aspire to force their beliefs down the throats of all those that don't care about their idiocracy. Both believe they are uniquely blessed by divine insipiration and are the sole progenitors of truth. Both practice identity politics. Because Europe has left reality behind as being so last century, things will just keep spiraling out of control as the economy weakens. The most likely outcome is another war.

racism actually has to involve race, not all right wingers are racist, and even if a right winger wanted to be left alone with his race then who cares? as long as he is not harming another person or infringing on their rights he can have whatever he wants

I think Germany's appetite for war has long since been satiated. Europe in general won't have much of an appetite for war. Besides the fact that they were involved in near constant war for the better part of the last 9 - 10 centuries, they just won't be in the economic positions to fight a war.

Europe-wide there has been an increase in the presence of extreme political ideologies due to the current economic environment but I'm damn sure they will do all in their power to ensure conflict does not erupt from it.

I dont know how credible is considering its source here, and the strange juvenile wording.
