FarCry2 Mybroadband review

Have any of you played this yet? I'm sure i heard a "baddie" speak afrikaans??

I find it an excellent game. I have heard people complain that it becomes boring/repetitive.

I guess that is the danger with all sandbox games - you sometimes have to keep it interesting for yourself.

Technically, it is very well executed indeed.
 
I've heard of a lot of people saying that the game was supposed to be an 11/10 but only reached 7/10.... :(
 
The singleplayer becomes boring because you just drive around, shoot a couple of people and drive again. There is nothing innovative about the storyline. Yes, engine is pretty, but thats about it.

Multiplayer - I know something about a server that I cant tell :(
 
Just a pity the game is so expensive. No point in buying this for a "gameclub" as it only can be installed on three computers. Also keep in mind you need an internet connection to activate and play the game.

heya, kinda new to this forum. as you can see only one post. Ive been playing fra cry 2 for a bit now and at first i thought it was the best game ever...its weird to play in the bush and have people talk afrikaans, its something new. After a little while it started to get repetitive and thats what lost it for me. It's kind of like Grand theft auto bush version, fun but repetitive

That's just wrong. It's like saying I bought you something, but you have to wait till Christmas before I can give it to you... :p

We are trying to get a dedicated server up but FC is giving me hasttles. Everytime you start the dedicated server app. (Located under the bin folder) it just closes again. You briefly see the GUI for a second and then its gone. No Log, no nothing.

Tried patching, running command line, replacing the file and praying... Any Ideas?
 
I'm about 70% with the game and I find it fantastic value for money. COD4 (example) offered about 7 hours of fun on one level and then another 7 on a more difficult level. I've been playing FC2 for 23 hours already (per the game's measurement) and there's plenty of play time left. It's also great for busy people like myself that can play the game "innings" by "innings" ... a mission (or two) a day.

The Afrikaans in the game is great ... making this game special for me. How many international top class games will we ever get to play that's so familiar to us? Lekker! The thought has crossed my mind that this game was originally developed to go with the movie "Blood Diamond" but then decided to give it a life of its own. It's nothing like the original Far Cry.

My big gripe at present is the very poor implementation of stealth. Buying silenced guns and the camo suit, and sticking to the shadows, is a waste. It just doesn't work. To me it feels like my character in the game has a GPS inplant because the AI opponents know where you are all the time ... no matter how hard you work not to be seen/heard. It's very frustrating not to be able to play a proper stealth game. Here I feel the developers should tweak the game.

The long drives/walks/swims/rides are frustrating only when a player wants to play the game in a few long sessions. I don't think that is how this game was meant to be played.

That I can play this game on my old rig makes it a winner for me. I must thank the developers for this more inclusive approach.
 
does anyone else become nauseous after a few minutes...?

I googled a bit and it seems the FOV is all wrong (a la Bioshock). I also feel a constant need to holster my weapons...and that machete is the worst close range weapon I've used...ever..in any game. The "poke" in Worms does more damage.

LoL, no, soz, haven't even touched the MP of FC2.
