Farm Attacks

What I do not understand is how some white farmers, despite all this happening the past 30 years, are still farming. Are they trying to ignore what is happening? Are they greedy? Do they simply not give a f**k? Whatever the reason, their deaths are now purely of their own making. Personally, I see this as them provoking attacks, and I can no longer feel the same about their deaths as I did 10 years ago.

Stop feeding South Africans. Pack up, leave the country and go farm in another country, or simply retire and go live somewhere else with family. There is no reason to walk around with a target around your neck provoking these killers.

South Africans do not need farmers or food. They deserve eating dust. Let the nation go that route. Easy as that. Government will import what is needed in this country.
Fuk me but you kan talk the utmost pile of shcit...no wonder most, if not all of your contributions, are met with derision and disgust.

Do you honestly believe it is just a matter of packing up and retiring? Most of these small farmers are living day to day and barely surviving. There also is not 2nd or 3rd generation of farmers...they HAVE given up and are following other professions.

Most of these farms have been in families for generations, so it is not just a matter of giving up. Stop blaming the victims here, you stupid POS.

I am sticking around to see what the poorest of the poor will do when farms collapse and can no longer provide food.
Who more to revel in that situation than the very same farmer who was producing the food? Imagine chilling inside your Hilux, watching the masses drop dead from hunger all around you?

I would say the farmer deserves to behold this spectacle more than you.

I'll take the middle ground here as a farm owner and point out that the "farm murders" (and general crime) are carried out by a small group of bad people, often exacerbated by political and particularly SAPS, inaction). The farmers I know get on well with their labour and neighbours, pretty much of all racial groupings and enjoy their lifestyle, even with its challenges.

How could they "ignore what is happening"? What you are asking does not make sense.

Are they greedy?
Farming is the very last thing that a greedy person will do. There are too many variables that are not under the farmer's control, like the lifecycle of crops and livestock, the weather, input costs and market prices, to name but a few.
There are many ways of making money that are way easier than farming, that pose far less risk and that give far greater monetary reward.

Do they simply not give a f**k?
Your question does not make any sense at all.

Whatever the reason, their deaths are now purely of their own making.
Now you are just getting bizarre, or you are just an attention-seeking troll.

Now you are even beyond bizarre. In fact, with that statement you are a confirmed troll.

Granted that farms and farmers are located in rural areas, far away from law enforcement, but being more vulnerable does not mean that they are "provoking" anything.

With that logic, you should tell your wife to not wear lipstick, cut her hair short, wear men's clothes, and never bath or shave, basically stop acting like a woman, because if she doesn't, then she is provoking men to rape her.

South Africans do not need farmers or food.
Over 60 million South Africans would disagree with you, but hey, you are entitled to your opinion. Try laying off the drugs for a while before you post though, it's statements like this that make you lose all credibility.

This is slowly becoming a reality, there are far fewer farmers every year, and with the current state of our balance of payments, it is concerning. Here is Agriculture's share of GDP, in the past 8 years it has fluctuated between 1.96 and 2.57 percent, from around 5 percent in 1994:

Using percentage of GDP seems a roundabout way of demonstrating that there are less farmers.

There are many confounders why farming output could have decreased relative to the GDP.

Do you have absolute figures and rates rather?

Farming is a commercial enterprise - not a humanitarian undertaking.

People farm to make money.

Bollocks, it is one of the best ways and you know it. Go ahead and do your own research if you want to prove the contrary, I'm not obliged to. Wie beweer moet bewys.

More farmers does not always equal more output.

Technology has improved, mergers happen...

Why do you keep strawmanning and generally talking kak? You are starting to look like Fak Ma Pooey's clone.

Go back to the trevor noah worship thread where your drivel is somehow tolerated.

The exact same trend can be see if looking at graphs showing the US agricultural sectors contribution to GDP.

It doesn't show that farming activities have decreased. It shows that it has decreased relative to the GDP.

The graph shows that although agricultural output increases substantially - agriculture's contribution to GDP has decreased.

for questioning regarding the brutal murder of Thys van Niekerk.

Well done to the local community in the area who supplied 'overwhelming' information that led to the arrest of the suspect!

Since farm murders / attacks in South Africa have always been seen in the press as a racially motivated attack (I don't really believe that as I think 99% of the attacks are because of being a soft target or a dispute) which is akin to most murders, rapes or robberies (the attacker is known to the victim)

Are there any stats which show the race of the farmer who was attacked, or is that not allowed?

The graph shows that although agricultural output increases substantially - agriculture's contribution to GDP has decreased.
SA's is substantially lower than the world average. Open your eyes.
Worldwide phenomenon not only in SA. So please understand your data before sharing it.

@RonSwanson
For developed countries of course Captain Obvious. That was not the only conclusion, see above.

Please read before trying to understand the data.

Do not try to derail this thread with stupidity Fak Ma Pui.
