This makes sense too. Maybe a clamp down on the poaching forces them into other types or crime now. Like in the one article the owner was a Rhino farmer. They can't poach his rhinos so now they rob and kill the farmers instead. One just can't win...

Agreed!

On the one I mentioned next to my Cousin's game farm. I think I recall them stealing something like 6 rifles and ammunition. Luckily the hunters wasn't shot or killed. And I can rest assured they won't go doing armed robberies with hunting rifles. But then again, those are exactly what they want for hunting Rhinos...

Don't want to condone violence and vigilantism, but screw them, shoot them and feed the remains to whatever animals can be found on the farm.

I did mention that his pigs look hungry and also offered a few breaking bad solutions. Just scary living like that. Their nightly routine is more than just lock the security gate and door and go to bed.
 
Injured farmer tied up for four hours while attackers ransack his home

Mbombela - A vegetable farmer, whose leg had been broken by attackers, lay tied up for more than four hours on Saturday in the living quarters of one of his workers before he was rescued and taken by helicopter to a Johannesburg hospital.

Mike Botha, 45, who lives on a smallholding between Emalahleni and Middelburg, was assaulted, tied up and robbed – in all likelihood by one of his workers, Netwerk24 reported.

Willie Botha, Mike's brother, visited him on Sunday and said that one of the suspected attackers was a man named Moses. The police are looking for him.

According to Willie, Mike had told him that "Moses" woke him up just after 06:00 and said he should help him look for a snake and kill it.

"My brother got out of bed and walked to a heap of ground where the supposed snake was. When he bent forward, the worker attacked him from behind with a pick axe."

This is the single reason why I employ ZERO workers on my small holding.

On the Family Farm in Zeerust we have no choice, but the workers have been with our family for generations. I still think this is the single most important thing on farms. One can't go without workers, yet they are the ones knowing the ins and outs of your house, security and the likes. If at all possible Farmers need to use as few labourers as possible, and if need be start employing the young white unemployed.

This land issue with the current black generation is part and parcel of these attacks.
 
You only need to make a public example of these guys once. Slowly lower them into huge vat of boiling water from a crane. Film it. Put it online. This is how they should be dealt with.

And promptly go to jail directly thereafter. Only stupid people film it. Dish out some proper justice and let them go. They will hopefully learn it's not worth it to rob your farm and go to your neighbor.

Having my in-laws living on farms, I constantly worry about their safety.

Watched it. Amazing story with a very good twist too.

I think it sums up the reality of the issue at hand. But I don't want to spoilt it for you. Watch it yourself.

‘The whites are killing me’, slain farmer allegedly said

His widow testified she found her husband’s body lying on the road, his shirt torn and pants missing. An emerging Brits farmer phoned his daughter and told her “the whites were killing him” shortly before his wife found his body on a road near their farm, the High Court in Pretoria has heard.

Murdered farmer Muraga Mavula’s widow, Anna, testified in the trial of Brits building contractor Schalk Myburgh, 56, and his son, Schalk Myburgh Jnr, 30, who pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering Mavula and stealing his cellphone. The state alleges the Myburghs murdered Mavula by severely assaulting him and driving over him in their bakkie. Mavula and two of his sons were looking for a lost goat on the night of the incident, but were allegedly accused of stock theft.


His wife, the mother of eight children, testified that she and her husband had a good relationship with neighbouring farmers. Her husband had left with three of their children after she came home from work that night, but did not say where they were going.

She was getting ready for bed when her daughter came running in with her cellphone and said “Ma, Ma, Daddy says the whites are killing him.” She immediately drove to the nearby scene, where she saw her husband lying in the road. His shirt was torn and she could not see his pants. She started screaming when she realised he was dead.
