How can you get 156 of a "group" murdered per 100 000 but the crime stats show that only 34.1 South Africans (which includes that group) are murdered per 100 000?

Either the amount of farm murders per 100 000 is wrong or the amount of south africans murdered per 100 000 is wrong

I think they used the population part actively being farmers not the population as a whole.

Meaning 156 out of 100 000 farmers. Not the population as a whole.

Another area were the farmers can do better. The staff need to be incorporated into the security measures. The farmers need to work with the staff and treat them like employees in a profession business. There should never just be random unknown people on the farm. The workers even have more of a community and would easily recognise someone that don't belong.

Farmers are attacked because they are easy prey, it's really that simple, has very little to do with race?

Mmm, I think that might be true for crime in general, such as theft. But when it comes to murder it is not about poverty, hunger, ease of access etc anymore. If you are poor and need to steal to survive, and a farm is an easy target, then get in, steal your stuff and get out. No need for the brutal murdering. That stems from pure hate. Granted you get muderes that result from accidents (farmer fights back and triggers attackers to shoot) or you get some psychopath people who take pleasure in murdering. Looking at the number and brutality of these murders, the vast majority can only be explained by hate. And my guess is that race is the underlying factor.

Farmers are targeted more so their rate/percentage is higher.
That destroys the argument that everyone experience the same amount of crime. Farmers are specifically targeted more. The reason for that can still be because they are easy targets.

I think you are right. This also correlates what AfriForum said that farmers are 4.5 times more likely to be murdered than the general population. A better stat would be to compare that with normal house attack murders. Gang related murders and street murders do not really fall into the same category than being attacked in your home/farm.

oh ok, but wouldn't that actually be a bit biased since the population being millions of people compared to a group of that is probably about 50 000 farming units. It is liking comparing how many black people get murdered to Indian people where 80% of the population is black

You are missing the argument. How does it destroy the argument that everyone experiences the same amount of crime. If you cherry pick stats you can get what you want.

You need to compare how many farmers get killed as a percentage of total murders to ALL South Africans not just within their own little group numbers.

True, however that is exactly what they are trying to show. You are more likely to be killed as a Farmer than a normal citizen. So the stats are factually correct.

If you make everything out of 100 000/ per criteria or even a percentage, then you can compare who is experiencing the most crime.
The national average is 34.1 out of 100000 people that's everyone.
But the murder rate for farmers is 156 out of 100000 farmers. So they are targeted at a higher rate.
This measures farm murders specifically so you don't count everyone.
