Farm Attacks

Farmer ‘executed’ on his farm near Vredefort

A 71 year old cattle farmer from Vredefort in the Free State was attacked and shot dead by a group of suspects on Sunday morning 4 March 2018.

WO Lorain Earle, spokesperson for the police, identified the farmer as Dirk Steenkamp. According to Earle, Steenkamp was a reputable businessman and farmer in the area.

[According to information this was the sixth attempt on Dirk’s life. Farmers in the area say it was an execution.]

Steenkamp left his house early in the morning to investigate a water pump on the farm. He was armed.

“The suspects attacked him while he was still working on the water pump,” she said. “They shot him and his wife heard the shots. She then called the police and the neighborhood watch, after which the suspects fled. ”

Farmer arrested for ramming home with tractor

A dairy farmer embroiled in a labour dispute is facing a string of charges after repeatedly ramming a tractor into a home – seriously injuring a former employee. The farmer‚ from the coastal town of Mossel Bay on the Garden Route‚ was arrested by police on Sunday. The dispute appears to have started in December 2017 when a farm worker and his wife were fired and subsequently lodged an unfair dismissal case against the farmer at the CCMA.

Elvin Booysen‚ chairman of a local farm committee in the area‚ said the couple were confronted by the farmer while fetching wood. “While that (CCMA) case was ongoing they continued to live on the farm. The river is on the border of the farm …. The farmer came and confronted them. He told them it was his river and they cannot remove the wood‚” said Booysen.

The couple were allegedly assaulted during the confrontation on February 25. “Their house is situated next to a gravel road. When they heard the tractor approaching they assumed it was driving along the road. “The farmer then drove right through the house. He threatened to kill them. They have been working for the farmer for over a year‚” said Booysen. The couple‚ whom he said were in shock after the incident‚ had been receiving food donations from the local community.

Southern Cape police spokesman Malcom Pojie said a case of assault was opened after the incident.

Wrong thread. Try to stick to the rules.

FOOLs

What a bloody savage.
OK I see now where you are coming from

Why not rather say -- what a bloody FOOL
South Africa is blessed with an overabundance of these

What farmer should really have done

Caught a Koperkapel or two and inserted them late one night into the dwelling
Which he so stupidly damaged using a very valuable tractor.

For this kind of stupidity I would summarily put the idiot up against a wall
Clearly there is NO place for this type of Darwinian hero

It qualifies 100% to be in this thread.

How so?

My view on this thread is violent attack of farmers and farm workers by outside forces. This is a domestic dispute, no matter how you try spin it :p But makes no difference to me, you welcome to have it here.

But then it would be called «*Farmers’ attacks*», so we are speaking of people attacking farms or of attacks happening on farms. No?

True, don't know what the intention of the thread is/was. It always been "Farmers' attacks" articles posted. With the odd one here and there from thechamp like the above one. Like I said, I have no issue with it. I mean it was a domestic dispute on a farm. I guess Snake bites on farmers and farm workers also qualify as a "Farm attack" :o :D

Believe me we would not be having this conversation if a farmworker was attempting to run a farmer over with a tractor. it would make it into Afriforum's website as an attempted murder of a farmer fuelled by Julius Malema's land expropriation. It would also be lapped up on this forum.

Would it qualify if the attack was reversed?

I was under the impression this thread is meant for all attacks on farms, irrespective of perpetrators. We've had instances in the past where workers attacked farmers because of pay dispute or such. Too lazy to search.

Terre'blance's murder would make it into this thread and straight into Afriforum genocide stats, regardless that it was a pay dispute which resulted in his murder. I am saying this to you without a shadow of doubt.
