If anything they would have to inflate their stats to fit their agenda. So those stats are irrefutable. There is no denying there is a decline overall.

Not saying we don't have extremely bad years like we did last year iirc.

But Afriforum keeps their own stats, why would they use those supplied by the police then :confused:

Edit: nvm it's for the times they didn't keep stats. So what else do you suggest we use then given that those can be checked, and verified.
If you are talking about discrepancies in the stats for the last few years I would agree with you. But even then that discrepancy would be small not so?

i dont know the answers to your questions. i do know that this government skews information to suit its agenda on all fronts. including various statistical information which has been in the news. they pander toward ideologies which has history for doing such things.

in 2004 i was being spammed with farm murder pics, more awareness was the idea, ****ing horrible stuff, with stories going along with them and what they were being classified as, like burglary or robbery, . but thats something someone said in an email, they could be talking kak, just like i could be, but, this type of thing has been in the news before so its not impossible. i cannot take those stats as irrefutable as its being made out to be.

These stats were being classified differently at the time. There was no distinction between a rural place like a farm or a small holding and that of a suburban house. That is the only difference I'm aware of with regards to the stats. Obviously it can be skewed if anyone wanted to. But if one really wanted to one can trace those people killed and find out the numbers.

I don't think it's obscured to such a degree that it's not relevant anymore though. Afriforum is holding their own now and the discrepancies are very small. So going forward we'll know for sure I guess.
 
Mother and child attacked on Darnall farm – KwaDukuza

The wife of a sugarcane farmer was brutally attacked with a cane knife while trying to shield her daughter in Darnall this morning.

According to a Darnall cane farmer who lives on a nearby farm, the attack took place just after 6am this morning on Hummeloo Farm in KwaDukuza.

He said the attacker is thought to have been an employee on the farm.

“It is believed the man entered the house with the intention of stealing after the woman’s husband had left to go out to the fields.

“He was in the kitchen when the woman and her child walked in on him.

“He attacked her with a cane knife.

“The man is being pursued by Farm Watch members and SAPS.”

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst said the attacker first swung the cane knife at the child when her mother jumped in front of her, shielding her from the attack.

“The child, about pre-school age, hid behind a couch and they continued to scream until the attacker fled.

“The mother who is in her 30’s sustained multiple injuries from the cane-knife and was treated by paramedics before being transported to hospital.”

A total of 62 farm murders were reported in the past financial year in South Africa‚ according to the latest crime statistics released in Parliament on Tuesday.
The dead included farm owners and farm workers. Police said they had recorded 33 farm robberies‚ six incidents of attempted murder and two incidents of rape.
Eleven incidents were reported on Gauteng farms‚ including a dozen murders.
The North West province recorded the second-highest number of attacks‚ resulting in nine deaths.
Mpumalanga had the third-highest number of reported farm attacks‚ including eight deaths in eight attacks.
The Eastern Cape and Western Cape ranked much lower. Each province recorded three farm attacks. Six people were killed in the two provinces.
Scores of farmers took to the streets in 2017 to raise awareness about farm attacks. TimesLIVE reported that around the time of the protest action‚ elderly vegetable farmer Bokkie Potgieter was found hacked to death in his bakkie near his farm in Vryheid in KwaZulu-Natal.

in this forums there is always talk about white genocide in farm attacks but really is 62 deaths regarded as white minority genocide?
yes 62 people perished and it's not a good thing for innocent people to be killed for their own belongings. My point all races suffer from this gruesome crimes committed by this savages and the police needs to up their game to protect the citizens of ZA.

So stats are out and there are no white minority genocide

Roets, during the launch of his book Kill the Boer in Centurion, said that according to AfriForum's own statistics, there had been 34 farm murders and more than 210 farm attacks since the beginning of 2018.

You'd trust SAPS reporting?
Questions are being raised about the accuracy of the latest annual crime statistics released by the SA Police Service (SAPS)‚ with the SA Banking Risk Information Centre [Sabric] revealing that its database contains almost 150 more heists than what the police have reported.


SAPS management announced in parliament on Tuesday that 238 heists occurred between April 1 2017 and March 31 2018. For the same period Sabric recorded 385 heists.

Stats SA shows that when it comes to the reporting of crime there is a huge under reporting‚ with a 51% under reporting in crimes such as burglary.

I wonder what would happen if there were 62 doctors murdered, 33 medical practices robbed, 6 attempts on doctor's lives and 2 doctors raped in South Africa during the last 6 months?

The world would go apeshit at this serial murder of a specific profession.

Or to see it from another angle: what would the response be if these were farmers in rural England or Australia?

You can insert any profession you like, of course...

This is what makes these attacks and murders such a huge issue...the fact that animals are murdering each other for cell phones or practicing rape as a sport, cannot be used to shift attention away from farm murders.

That's something to consider. A lot of crimes in townships and informal settlements go unreported due to the lack of belief in the SAPS. Could be that farmers feel the same way and instead contact Afriforum.

Is robbery the same thing than attack. Attack might include attempt while robbery might include only when something was stolen (speculating).

The terminology in the OP - a supposed official source - doesn't help here. We have ''robberies, ''attacks'' and ''incidents'' being mentioned. 33 ''robberies'' nationwide; 11 ''incidents'' in Gauteng; 14 ''attacks'' across Mpumalanga, the Eastern Cape and Western Cape and an unknown number of ''attacks'' in the North West. Do the ''attacks'' and ''incidents'' form part of the 33 robberies?

Even if we add them up as separate events we still fall way short (58) of Afriforum's claims (210).
