The horrific torture-massacre of the Viana family of Walkerville - amnd how the unarmed Tony, wife Geraldine 42 and son Amaro, 12, and the family dog, on October 1 2011 were hacked to death with pangas, the mother was gang raped and then had a broken bottle rammed into her vagina.
Testimony at this week's trial of accused murderers Sphiwe David Motaung, 22, Patrick Petrus Radebe 25 and Sipho Mbele (22) was that victim Tony Viana pleaded with the three: "Please do not kill me'.
The family was tortured and brutally murdered in their home in Walkerville, South Africa on 1 October 2011. The family was chased around their home and hacked to pieces as they ran. The son was gagged and drowned in the boiling-hot bath with his hands tied behind his back.
The savages tortured this family before killing them, while drinking the alcohol they found in the house. There were blood splashes and smears in every room of this large home.
The dog was hacked to pieces and shot.
"Twee gee ander skuld vir moord op gesin"- "A picture was shown of a bottle which was shoved into Geraldine Viana's vagina. Mbeli said he did it because he was drunk.
Another picture was also shown of the young son Amara's body, tied up in the bathtub. "Is this how you tied him up?" 'Yes"
Relatives of the Viana family reacted with shock when coaccused Radebe claimed that 'Geraldine has said that if she HAS to be raped it would be better if Radebe did it because she knew him, he was the family gardener'.
"If you were 'forced to rape her, how could you have gotten an erection,' Radebe was asked by public prosector Ruben Chabalala.
Chabalala submitted their independent testimony to the court after their arrest in which they admitted in great detail exactly how they committed the murder, in such detail that only the killers could have known.
In previous testimony, The three black males who testified to killing the three-member Portuguese-South African family (whose parents had arrived in South africa as refugees from Mozambique) claimed -- through their lawyer Charmaine Castleman -- that they 'got back at Mrs Viana 'for the way she treated them'. However no details of this alleged 'maltreatment' have come to light. The testimony was that Radebe raped her whil Mabele held a pillow over her face.’ A third gang member, Sphiwe David Motaung, 20, had previously pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal, aggravated robbery and damage to property. Describing the sexual assault, she said: ‘First Mbele raped her while Radebe helped him by standing on her head.
The woman then was killed and her husband was shot dead. Their twelve-year-old son Amaro was immersed in a tub of boiling water. He had been tied up and his mouth was taped shut to stop him from screaming. The men gave no explanation as to why they ' needed ' to kill the twelve-year-old, defenceless child. The case was mentioned as a hatecrime and 'a typical example of the dehumanisation' of people - and described as a 'genocidal act' by Prof Gregory Stanton of Genocide Watch, during his press conference in Pretoria on July 26 2012.
