Farm Attacks

The guys that murdered Terreblanche are rightfully in jail but have also claimed he was molesting them and they acted in retaliation. I guess we don't know what happened there.
What has the one got to do with the other, except for your desire to find non-existent commonality in cross-race links? What would that make you? Never become a journalist or a presenter, one Eusebius is already one too many. :X3:

He probably mistook them for monkeys not hippos but that would get him in trouble.

Also, why are you shooting hippos? That should be a criminal offence on its own.

Nope.

If you look at the article, that was his excuse. He was definitely shooting at them, quite probably to tell them to get the heck off his property..

Hendriks was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly fired shots in the direction of the couple who were fishing next to the Mogol River at the Rietspruit plot.

Seabi said the 38-year-old woman had sustained a gunshot wound, while her partner had managed to hide and alert the police.

"The woman was taken to hospital for treatment and the police investigations ensued.

"Hendriks alleged that he was shooting at the animals (hippopotamus)," Seabi said.

Police seized two rifles, one revolver, one pistol and two airguns.”

Were they on his property?
Asking because I don't know.
Reading between the lines I think so - says - fishing next to the Mogol River at the Rietspruit plot.
I'm going to assume thats his plot, and they weren't supposed to be there.

Doesn't excuse him shooting (at) them, but I'm sure it wasn't as innocent as they make it out to be.

Look, I haven’t seen these people but all I’m saying is that it’s probably easier to mistake them for monkeys than hippos. But he can’t say that because you know why.

Anyway, people say hippos are the most dangerous animal in Africa. Wrong. They’re the second most dangerous after a stranger on your farm.

Some females of the species here in SA are quite large.

I disagree - some can easily be mistaken for a hippo. :)

They don't say what he used to shoot at them. There's a huge difference between firing your 9mmP pistol at someone, or your hunting rifle....or an old .410 shotgun with birdshot at 100 meters.
One is about as effective as a small pellet gun (btw, they have no right to confiscate pellet guns, they are not licensed, not firearms, and therefore not subject to confiscation)
I bet he threw some #7 birdshot at them from far away, and that the only injury is a few shallow pellets under the skin. Maybe I'm wrong, happy to admit it if I am. But it's a fact that should be mentioned.
Yup.
Would be interesting to know what he used.

Makes one wonder how to react in certain situations.

"If the Raghoos had a firearm and they were able to use it"

Wonder if they will get one now? I'm not victim shaming just curious.

OP for this thread was Dec 30 2014. You can't tell me it has been 8 years of farm attacks and farmers have been denied firearms for 8 years straight.

**** it, I'm not even working/living on a farm and have a few firearms.

Because he's white, a black farmer on the other hand has no problem with the monkey explanation when they shoot a person.

Here twitter, FB, News 24 etc... make a noise..... I dare you

Not saying this story is false but FYI, POST is an IOL publication owned by Iqbal Surve.

I see many on Mybb regularly questioning material that comes from IOL, especially if it is of a sensitive nature. We must at least be consistent and not publish IOL material when it suits our views.
