Are you dense?

Valuing the contribution of farmers is not diminishing the contribution of other occupations.

Afriforum specifically advocate for farmer interests. Anyone who feels so strongly about other groups can advocate for those groups. The world has many problems, and no-one with any intelligence is saying that we should only work on solving the most severe problems and leave the rest until we solve that one problem.

Some of the reasons that farm murders should get attention are:
1. They are murdered at a higher rate than the average.
2. Farm murders and attacks are particularly brutal. Don't tell me that a councilor shot in a driveby shooting is the same as being brutally tortured and/or raped for hours on end.
3. Government has systematically made it more difficult for farmers to protect themselves.
4. Hate speech is illegal in most of the world for a reason, yet hate speech against farmers is allowed to continue.

I am certain there are many squatter camps or townships or suburbs with worse murder rates than farmers. Their lives don't matter less, but the deeper causes of those murders are different than for farm murders. They also need attention, but Afriforum has decided to focus on this group, farmers, black and white.

Why are you so against something being done to reduce farm murders?
Why is government trying so hard to claim all is well, and nothing is wrong here?

Yes, generational capital is how many current farmers came by their land. If you knew about farming, you would also know that even those easily lose those farms if they are not only skilled farmers, skilled business owners, and hard working.
My friend's parents were first generation farmers though. They bought empty land and lived in a tent while their house was being built.
Another friend's parents are also first generation farmers. They also still have the agreement the first white owner signed with the last black owner when they bought it from him. Many others have similar stories.
My wife's black Zimbabwean friends also bought a farm in South Africa, also first generation farmers. (Who are thinking of emigrating to NZ by the way)

If you pay attention, you will see that most of the successful black farmers in South Africa are those who bought land, instead of those who were given land by government. Capital (generational, government or self-generated) only gets you so far. Those succeed are those with skill and knowledge who work hard. It's not just putting seeds in the ground and waiting for it to come up.

Gonna take years to train those taxi drivers, farm workers, water and sanitation workers. The fafmers, nurses, doctors and paramedics are as easy to replace as any of the above, hey!

If they are guilty of murder, they should go to jail with appropriate sentences. What grinds your gears, is that you will not hear any arguments to the contrary from ANY group. Your "genocide" argument is simply silly, trying to build a nothing-burger. Keep trying though!

The government (and traditional leaders) owning a large portion of land only adds to the problem and make land seem more scarce and drives up prices. Creating the land problem.

If you look at what land most people want it is just to build a house and not farm land. Most of the land on the outskirts of cities that people actually want is owned by the government, usually local municipality.

The land problem in SA could be solved tomorrow by subdividing and privatizing and most government owned land

Non of the big political parties want to fix this issue by just giving away useless land, probably already occupied by squatters or take on the traditional ownership structures.
