Ok now I would like to know how long it took you guys to farm it? Those who can't make it, the 16k odd.

Reason I'm asking, I have now been farming for almost a week and sitting on almost 5k. Without the help of a friend who is going to borrow me the rest to craft and then sell the chopper It would then have taken me about 2 weeks of solid farming. Which is INSANE.

However, since I can make 3k per chopper sold it should be a bit easier making gold after that initial 13k. I think they will sell like hot cakes when Cataclysm hits. All these new Goblins and Worgens will need choppers too :)

When I didnt have the gold I wanted one.
Now that I can buy one I lub having the gold more :D

Took me about a week of farming. I was in the Philippines and my online hours were out of whack with everyone elses, so i was able to farm WG for titanium with little hassle.

Busy working on my mammoth atm :D

The best thing to do now is to invest in rare pets.

The Azure, Crimson, and Emerald Whelps are being taken out in Cata, along with the Razzashi Raptor.

They will be worth a fortune in Cata.

Good luck farming! ( Also, if you farm them, you can sell them for 6-8k without much trouble, and they take no longer than 2-3 hours if you can get one kill every few seconds. )

So yeah, Whelps are as close to a gold mine as I can figure.

Thinking of leveling my toons whit gathering proffesions first
and cash in on the insane AH prices the 1st 4 months or so

How do you guys make so much gold?

I used to cane about 700g worth of ore in 2-3hrs back before ICC hit. That helped a lot, but ore and leather prices pretty much fell flat, so I hardly made any cash anymore.

so you telling me I should buy a couple whelps and hang on to them ?

I used to make around 2k to 5k a day when I was still playing. Army of Alchemists + a JC FTW. That and a one click addon to post all the glyphs....

I had other tactics as well, but NO FARMING what so ever :)

If your server runs GDKPs those are an awesome way to make gold.

I remember when DBW used to sell for 60k gold. Would make 6k - 8k per raid. Was bloody hilarious watching people throw away gold on 1 item.

hmm...Going to try this...with my luck they'll be soulbound in Cata xD

money for the mechano-hog/traveller's tundra mammoth

i didn't buy a mechano-hog, mostly because that would involve bugging a third party and then being quite sure i could trust them. in the end, i opted for a traveller's tundra mammoth.

i'm very, very casual.

to get to the mammoth, i basically ended up doing the argent tournament dailies every day and supplemented my gold intake by doing random other stuff along the way. at the time, i was doing a handful of burning crusade reputation grinds, so:

about two hundred gold a day, or so in daily quests, daily dungeon runs and drops from reputation critters i was killing means that it probably took four or so months to get the required amount of money.

At WoTLK peak I was turning 5-6k per day on about 2 hours of work, this does not work as well now since the expansion is around the corner but it gives some idea of how to make a lot of money for little effort. This was done on a busy raiding server so prices will probably be a bit out of line with other realms. It takes about 2 weeks for the production line to really settle, the first few days I fell short on some mats here and there.

I used 5 toons for the entire income stream,

Toon 1: JC/Enchanting (made a killing selling ulduar enchants but I excluded that from this post)
Toon 2: Herbs/Inscription
Toon 3: Alchemy/Tailoring (Tailoring not used for income)
Toon 4: Alchemy/Tailoring (Tailoring not used for income)
Toon 5: Mining/Blacksmithing

Basically the first hour would be spent farming, either herbing or mining. In 1 hour you can collect around 30 stacks of whatever and some Titanium/Frost Lotus. All ore would be prospected and all herbs milled, keep in mind that you are collecting eternals at the same time since herbing yields crystallized life and mining gives shadow, earth or water, fire, air from titanium nodes. The alchemists would both transmute once daily with specialization and the JC cut those gems into popular gems, which depending on your realm could be from 150g-200g per gem and depending on luck with procs on the transmutes it would be 3-4k a week from the gems, the mats cost 0 since the blue gems come from mining and prospecting as well as the eternals.

Now I said I prospected and milled everything which is not entirely true I would always save enough for a Titansteel and flasks according to the number of Frost Lotus gathered which varied around the 1.5-2.5k a week mark again depending on procs. I used a friendly elixir master to make the flasks.

While herbing and milling you are getting a lot of icy pigment and eternal life which means darkmoon cards, greatness cards could sell for stupid numbers on some realms. I averaged 6-8k per card and sometimes more at the beginning of the expansion, illusion cards sold for 600-1k gold and death would be up to 2k. An average month of herbing etc would get 5-7 complete decks including one nobles at least which is another 2k about per week.

Mining also brings in the titanium and with a bit of luck 5 stacks a week in 3 hours total mining is easily possible, 300g a stack means another 1.5k a week earned. And you almost always end up with extra eternals so dump on ah.

So all of this brings you to around 800g per hour of work but the real money maker is glyphs, I would make (and still make) glyphs in the upper price ranges around 50g a piece (200g now but the bubble will burst). At any given time I had 1000+ glyphs on AH which easily earned me 5k a day.

Using this strategy for 6 weeks allowed me to buy all 5 toons epic flying skill, choppers, tundra mammoths etc. Currently I make about 2k a day from 30 minutes online but a lot is residual from the busier days. I still have 300 odd blue gems and dozens of eternals for example
