I sometimes do a speedtest on fast.com and I notice they normally name two servers.
First server for me is always Johannesburg, ZA. The second server is sometimes Fortaleza, BR, and sometimes Harare, ZW.

What is the significance of this second server in the test?

Example:

Your Internet speed is
170 Mbps
Upload Speed
78 Mbps
Client Witwatersrand, ZA 2c0f:f03****:f62e
Server(s) Johannesburg, ZA | Harare, ZW

I imagine they test to your closest Netflix CDN, and then probably one that you would use in the event that the local CDN's are down.

The closest one is often on your ISP's own network so they add the other server to give more accurate speeds.
It was probably designed for more geographically dense areas like EU and USA

Anyone else who looked at the traffic maybe? Assuming the above assessment is true I find it hard to believe Forteleza van be the next closest CDN from JHB

You know fast.com only test the internet speed to Netflix right? Speedtest.net has been whitelisted by so many ISP's. The best one to use is Google's Speed Test powered by Measurement Lab.
Hi, I'm aware of the others. This was an observation on fast.com speed test which I was using to do ipv6 speed test. Speedtest.net is IPv4 only

It depends on your ISP and their peering agreements.
