Is there any fast SA sites that ***** can be downloaded from?
The 3 Gig cap only last me for about 14 days!
As I understand it SA sites bandwidth is not limited after the 3 Gig or am I living in my own world here?
 
Is it just me or is this perhaps NOT the kind of element one wants on this forum.
 
Tharaxis - lets faceit most of us got ADSL for gamming and warez d/loading , but the issue here is'nt what we use DSL, it's about Telcum ripping us off.

So lets not start dis-crediting unwanted elements, lets rather welcome and ADSL user. Strength in number !!
 
I can agree that it's very likely that there are people out there who will use ADSL to download warez (as would they use any other form of internet access they had available), but to have it on a forum which attempts to be professional just plays into the hands of Telkom - they can instantly come and cite this post as an example of abuse, and can then proceed to tack the myADSL users as pirates and hackers.

Ah yes I agree with what you're saying, Tharaxis. And it doesn't matter how rotten SA is when it comes to piracy (heck, we've even got websites <i>selling</i> pirated copies), if telkom can use it as an excuse to discredit MyAdsl, then let's rather keep it off the boards.
 
Agreed, the last thing we need is bad publicity - telkom are going to do everything in their power to try slander and get rid of us.... we don't want to give them ammunition
 
Geez! I only wanted to download international content at local sites.
For some reason everyone is assuming piracy.
I wonder if guilty conscience isn’t getting the better of some people...
 
so what kind of <i>warez</i> did you mean?

there's only one kind and that's the illegal kind. unless <i>it's solely for backup purposes of the software you already own</i>[;)]
 
Instead of the very "pirate-centric" term "warez" you should have perhaps used the words software, applications, demo's, patches, etc.

Telkom mentioned putting up additional cache servers. Did this happen?
 
gunter, the problem with having a cache server is it ONLY contains information which has been determined as "cache worthy", so for anything out of the ordinary it doesn't help much. An active proxy would be better, but the chance of SAIX doing that runs into the negative numbers.
 
the games.saix.net ftp server

i cant ftp into games.saix.net - and all ftp links on web site fail... when using bpftp anonymous access not allowed... do i need a user and pass?
 
Yes. The ftp is not anonymous. go in through the website http://games.saix.net
Click on the file vault (You need to create a acount that is free) and then go from there with your DL.
