I found a nut cover 12.5mm that goes over the metal pipe.

So the plastic fastener must be smaller? Since it fits inside the pipe.

The white won't work as the pipe is then too short.

They are called Fir Tree Fasteners, come in different dimensions.

These guys used to have a shop in Pretoria when they were still called Skiffy. Not sure if they still have a walk in shop anymore.

Thanks

After visiting numerous hardware stores incl. Buchels Hardware, Mica Builders, Screwman etc. Chamberlain Hardware refered me to car spare places.

Got a fastener at AutoZone after trying Naskar.

But will try other places as these plastic fasteners end up popping off after a few weeks/month. Alternately thought of supergluing them on.

Thanks once again.

What is it used on?

If I had a bit to create screw threads, that would have been better for a screw/bolt into the steel pipe.

But this is fine. Cheap enough and will try supergluing it.

A wheelie bin.

Where white nut cover goes and then at bottom for the pedal mechanism.

Why not just buy some threaded bar and feed it through the tubes then put nyloc nuts on either end (with a washer)? Will obviously only work if the tubes are open all the way through.

The tubes are not removable.

Its a mechanism welded together.

I can see that, that's why I said you need to push a threaded bar through the tube. You just need to get one that is smaller than the inner diameter of the tube.
