For all you FireFox fans: try Maxthon browser (http://www.maxthon.com). Its quite secure, uses less PC resources and bloks ALL popups (easy to disable too). And a plus is the ADblocker which makes browsing faster!

Tell me what you think, please:cool:

I have used maxathon and dont really like the way it looks, plus it is built on (actually uses, almost no changes) the IE6 engine. But it is very low on recourses, a problem for FF. Just really prefer Opera, but Im not gonna push that here as well..

Any idea if Maxathon will start to use IE7's engine in new versions? Or maby if it already does in betas?

Oh and you can also easily block ads in Opera.. just if anyones wondering.

The intuitive mouse gestures and the fact that the browser is fully customisable makes it my browser of choice.
If you don't like the way it looks, disable all the extra features or simply download a skin from http://skins.maxthon.com

These are also a couple of the many reasons that make Opera the browser of choice for me. I just downloaded Maxthon for curiousity's sake. The tab browsing and mouse gestures in Maxthon (although not as extensive as Opera's gestures) are very similar to Opera. I looked for an equivalent of Opera's short cut keys which I use a lot, but couldn't see it. The program had an IE feel with some Opera options added on.

Based on my short test drive, I could see why someone would switch from IE to Maxthon, but could not see an Opera user switching to Maxathon. Perhaps I will give Maxathon a more thorough test some day to see if will change my mind. But for now, for speed, flexibility, security and options galore, I would suggest giving Opera beta 9 a try. It includes Widget, BitTorrent, Content Blocking, the ability to customize the integrated search engine field (a feature I quite like), Tab Thumbnail preview, site-specific preferences, etc.
Although its a beta version, it seems quite stable - I've been using it for a few weeks now without incident

Did try it,dont like much, will stay with FireFox

What GWM wrote is prety much exactly what i wanted to say, but I was lazy so instead you got: i dont like the way it looks.. haha sorry.

Yep, Opera provides alot more in the same field as Maxathon, so why have a IE6 built browser, you are practically suppporting microsoft and it really just has less features is slower and isnt as effective short-cut keys, layout) as Opera.

Plus it isnt realy going anywhere, I mean being built on IE engine means it never gets an upgrade, the main reason many people switched from IEwas the fact the IE 6 hadnt been upgraded in about 3 years.

Every feature you describe (even customizing and sins etc.) are done better in Opera plus it has many other extra's. So why dont you try out Opera 9 nad tell us why you would still prefer Maxathon, then I would be interested.

Communist? I would think FF is a very open and non state controlled browser. but then again i probably have no idea what you are talking about..

By the way guys, the new Opera 9 beta weekly had a quite a few fixes with stability, rendering, bittorent etc.

It can now display MyADSL.co.za perfectly. yay, now I couldnt have a issuse with it in the world. Okay I'm shure i'll still come across a few things, but tis definately better.

he/she means social, see, ff is made by the people, for the people, like any good thing...so, the communist connotation. Dont worry, the communist idea was a very good one, but, it was an utopia, communism didnt actualy exist, what existed was the soviet socialism, and that my friend, is just short of fascism. To be able to live in a true "communist" world, everybody would have to give up plenty, and i mean everybody, it will never work, look at the ussr. They were all equals (lol), but some, were more equals then others...

cheers,

Yes I did history..
The problem is that communism never really got to anything near being made by the people, it was made more by dictators.

A way of them being able to control themselves. That is why anarchism (true anarchism) isnt such a bad way of ruling. Becuase total power corrupts, it does have to corrupt all, but hte ones it does will ruin everything.
Therefore communism is very hard to get working, but its still better than capitalism in ideology imo.

And about FF, that is what I meant, it is very open and is for the people. ut in communism the state controls everything and people theselves cannot own or change anything, dont see how communism realates to a open source browser?
Also don see the point of this post, but im in a history mood i geuss..

Didn't know there was a weekly. Going to download it right now. I hope I can use it without having to revert back to Opera 8.54.

Hey, there's also an Opera Mobile 8.60 now. Hold your horses! It's only for Symbian S60 phones. :D

Go to http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/ to downoad hte weeklies. incase you didnt know.

They are almost every week, unless theres a problem and they are almost all very stable.
You should be able to use it fine, it works better for some sites and worse for others, but new features make it worthwile to check out.

Thanks I was confused.

Listen to this little piece of irony:
Known issues in internal build

  • Opera doesn't want to load my.opera.com

Yes, but that was an unreleased internal build, not even a weekly or a beta. Most have just been some stupid screw up.

Anyway if youve been using the beta 2 then this is only two weeklies ahead of that (but it took 3 weeks, quite big changes), so you can see that weeklies are pretty big jumps, and they come out so quick, I luv em.

But ja, it was pretty bad that it couldnt even load their own site. Doesnt topple Opera from being the best browser though..

I've now tried the net Internet Explorer 7 Beta and I think I'll stay with my Maxthon! There is just so much I can customize in it and its popup blocker and ad blocker still beats any other browser!:p

My Maxthon is fully customized. New skin and I removed all those buttons that I do not use. My tab bar is also placed at the bottom. Just works easier for me.

The biggest reason I like this browser is mostly because it browsers faster and doesn't use to much of my resources. And the popup and ad blocker;)

hmm. popup blocker beats opera's hey?
i'll have to check that, Im yet to ever have a pop-up that I dont want on Opera. it has been further improved in opera 9. But IE7 isnt that great, at least youve got that right.. lol

Okay just saw your new post.. that does sound pretty nice, you can alos add new button to Opera btw andremove most.. but its not fully customizable though, good enough for me.
