Faster PC - what needs upgrading first...?

Where can I walk in today and get some Corsair 800 RAM (ie not buy online and wait for delivery) in or near Randburg, JHB?

Ah wait - I see the mobo supports 800 MHz RAM

I thought he couldn't go above 400 MHz and it only had two slots or something :p

Priority list:
1) GET 2GB or 4GB of RAM
2) Get a Quad Core
3) Get either a bigger HDD if you need it, or a better GFX Card (but a 96GT is okayish though.....)

+1

Listen Him, Him make big heap sense.:)

err... that's what I'm trying to do...:) find a place where I can go now to buy some RAM

Oh and as for the disk thrashing problem... No matter how many times you defrag with the Windows defragging tool, your disk will still remain fragmented. You should use another tool made by a company who makes tools for Windows because Microsoft don't know what they're doing when it comes to system tools.

Hi,

pcint.co.za is in Randburg (Hendrik Verwoed Drive). They allow collections and prices are generally very competitive.

(PM me if you might be interested in a secondhand Q8200 - bought in April)

OK I now have 3GB of DDR2 800 Ram and I don't really see much difference. According to my motherboard manufacturers' website I can only use the following processors:

Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor X6800 SL9S5 2.93 GHz 1066Mhz 75W
Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 SL9UM 2.40 GHz 1066Mhz 105W
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6850 SLA9U 3 GHz 1333Mhz 65W
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6750 SLA9V 2.66 GHz 1333Mhz 65W
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6600 SL9S8 2.40 GHz 1066Mhz 65W
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6400 SL9S9 2.13 GHz 1066Mhz 65W
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6400 SL9T9 2.13 GHz 1066Mhz 65W
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6300 SL9TA 1.86 GHz 1066Mhz 65W
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6300 SL9SA 1.86 GHz 1066Mhz 65W
Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core E2160 SLA3H 1.80 GHz 800Mhz 65W
Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core E2160 SLA8Z 1.80 GHz 800Mhz 65W

so a bit limited in that respect, I look around and see what I can get... thanks again
