Fastest broadband speed: 1.125Tbps

Interestingly enough, this is for a single channel. It is already possible to push a single fiber pair to 24 terabit, using a combination of C and L band with 240 x 100gig waves.

Of course the costs of doing this are nothing short of insane, but the tech already exists to do it, even over distances of thousands of kilometers with the right amps and repeaters.

I'd be curious to know once they get a terabit signal through a fiber, what its modulation is and what its signal width is, because the trick is not necessarily getting a terabit through a fiber, the trick is how many terabit waves you can take through it. If they can get to a point where they can do 150 x 1 terabit waves, that will be something to see :) It will put building petabit speed submarine cables within reach.
