A friend of mine said that it's theoretically possible to setup a VPN to one of these high bandwith machines owned by some company like IS or the like and you could lower your ping into the 100-200ms range (I play on the European realms). Do any of you know anything about this and what one would require to get this going? I'm sure it would be more expensive but I'm interested to see what is available.

I doubt you will get sub 150ms pings purely because of the distance between us and europe. SAT-3 cable has a 90-120ms pure delay, then stack on router and switch delays.. etc. You can maybe achieve 250ms when traffic is low and no rats and hobo's are chewing on the telkom cables.

Be verry lucky... Stay close to the exchange and your ISP. Hope that your signal is carried over the Fibre networks and not the wired ones...

The conection from you to your ISP is a VPN type conection already if your using ADSL, I think?

More important than a very good latency is a solid conection imho :D With 400-550 ms you can still do anything in WoW including PVP/arena to great efficiency, but a 50ms Conection with frequent lag spikes would kill you quite fast.

ROFLMAO, on iBUrst I am in 7th heaven when I get 800ms! I can imagine playing at those low latency's. One tends to change your style if you play on 1200ms!

Off topic; is worldofwarcraft.com down or is it just iBurst?
