Fastest SA DNS Servers

You can use namebench from gooogle to check dns speed.It shows in Rustenburg where I am the fastest is Mweb 196.2.45.01.Globally it is ultraDNS at 156.154.70.1.Results will differ depending on where you live and Telkom line speed.

Why? Don't you like to use local CDN's?

Makes no sense to increase your latency to save on a few microseconds during resolution AND then miss out on local content delivery...

fnb.co.za has a SSL cert, so it would be very hard to spoof it. I wouldnt do any banking on websites without the green address bar.

Only joking but slightly serious.

SSL cert also doesn't mean you can't spoof people who don't look for these things, just use plain http and resolve to a site that looks identical and I bet you many people will fall victim.
 
For what purpose exactly would the fastest DNS server actually matter?

Yeah, and a lot of DNS responses tend to be cached as well, so unless you have a really bad DNS server as you said....the difference will likely be nearly negligable.

So am wondering as to the OP's need in this particular case, for what reason would they need a real fast DNS server
